Guildford Grove Primary School

I just felt that i should write a positive review on this school. My daughters are 9 and 4 and have been attending the school since they were old enough to. We have had no problems at all with either the staff or the way they teach. Whenever we have had a problem it has always been resolved. I dont think the teachers get enough credit for what they do, I appreciate the fact that it can be a challenging job to do. My girls have been very happy with this school and are hard workers in their classes. Please dont shun this school because of those that think badly of it, judge for yourselves.

I was checking the school's calendar and saw the review. I feel i must say something to be just to the school.

When our son joined the school 2 years back, he was always being bullied by his good friend. The teachers would feedback these incidents to me when i fetched him from school.

Later he joined his good friend to bully their friends. When the teacher told me, i was very sad and requested to meet the principal. We had a meeting and i requested that my son should not be allowed to play with his good friend as he is copying the bad behaviour.

The lead teacher helped by defining different play areas for the 2 children and also asked the other teachers and volunteers to keep an eye on my son.

As a parent, i have to do my part to teach our son not to bully and also not to be bullied. Situations improved a lot with the help from the teachers and the volunteers.

I was worried in the beginning when i noticed there was not much learning and brought up the matter to the teachers. I was told they were learning the interaction skills in the early years.

I was happy and surprised when our son dared to perform on the stage during the Christmas performance and he sang so confidently. He was very shy before and would cry and never go on stage in his previous school.

Now, he is teaching me the vowels and blending of sounds. Just this evening, he read a book by himself by blending the sounds. I saw how hard he is trying to remember the sounds and blend them to pronounce the words. These are the results from the teachings from the teachers and from the volunteers whom the school has engaged to help the children to read.

Guildford Grove Primary School may not be the best school in Guildford, however i can feel the effort the teachers are putting on the children, typically to encourage the children to read. I must say they have done a very good job in this area.

Try and avoid it, my girlfriends daughter goes here and it's a dirt hole! There are plenty of better schools in and around guildford that are far better. The education that comes from this place is diabolical!

My children are attending this School for the past 4 years. I feel this school is good for a public school. They offer breakfast clubs and after school clubs. The staff are mild mannered and professional. Children are taught to behave well at School. Though we have ups and downs whilst dealing with some issues, it was overall a positive experience for us. I also think there is a lot of room for improvement in coaching for SATs.

Fantastic School, helpful teachers, my son is blessed to be above national curriculum and they are very accommodating, I highly recommended this school

Great staff friendly pupils

My son joined in year 1 and has absolutely loved it. He is a completely different child. Massive thank you to his amazing teacher and TA. All the staff are very friendly.

I went to Guildford Grove for 9 years and loved every bit of it. The teachers are great and the school environment is amazing.
