Worked for me. I went there in the 1970s, loved it, and ended up a university lecturer. We experienced the joys of the Initial Teaching Alphabet and were all brilliant readers, but this technique is out of favour now, so these days I expect the school uses synthetic phonics like everyone else. I can remember doing a lot of experimental science, where we were all expected to work through project cards and find things out. There were also a lot of creative writing projects, and students from Cambridge University used to come to see what we were doing and admire our stories. This probably sowed the seeds for me to become a published author later on. I think it must have been a pretty good school even then, and I would certainly look at it for my own children if I lived in the area.
