Excellent advice on the town's history from a very helpful Irish lady named Aiofa.

Browsing, I found a book that interested me and so I tried to find out more online using mobile. Unfortunately this caused person behind the counter to immediately spring up and helpfully point out that no photography allowed. Pretty rude actually so no chance of sale. It was as if I'd tried to steal the precious things of the shop.

I found a few books by calling the shop and the owner could not have been more helpful and charming. Perfect!

A beautiful bookshop. I really enjoyed my visit here. Surprised to find 5 shelves of Irish books, displayed with a knowledge of the countries literature, and an interesting selection of second hand and rare items. The manager, Aoife was erudite and pleasantly welcoming and a very nice shop worth a visit.

Everything about this place is appealing, the smell, the atmosphere, the selection and above all else, the charm and charisma of the owner Aoife. We went there and learned of authors and illustrators that we've never heard of. We left utterly charmed.

A wonderful bookshop in Rye with a gem of an owner, Aoife, who is friendly and knowledgeable in equal measures.

Travelled from afar to visit this shop on a Saturday morning. Arrived 30 mins before the shop was due to open at 10.30am. I peered through the window and I could see the shop vender inside and so I thought I would leave & return at 10.45am again at 11am but the shop was still closed. I also tried phoning the number on the door - no answer. No sign anywhere to say it would be closed. Most frustrating.
