I’ve been renting in London for 6 years and used multiple estate agents - I have never had an issue with full return of a deposit until I went through Keaton’s.

For context, I was renting a flat with Keatons as letting agent for 12 months. When it came to check-out, they tried to charge us for fake damages in order to deduct as much as they could from our deposits. Every damage they accused us of was already present when we moved in and recorded in emails and documents they had written… but conveniently had forgotten to refer to when it came to charging us. The only thing which was justified was that we forgot to change a small light bulbs in the kitchen - for which they charged us £90!
If you want a stress free letting experience - avoid these people if you can!

I have contacted Keatons some years ago to discuss the prospect of renting my flat. Lara, who I had the initial meeting with was friendly and very helpful! I had many experiences with real estate agents in London in the past years. I found Keatons and I met Samantha Barrett. I never experienced such brilliant personality! The agent assigned to help us find our flat (Samantha Barrett) of the Hackney branch was so extremely helpful! She took the time to speak to us at length about exactly what we were looking for in a property, and went above and beyond to get into contact with us as soon as any relevant properties came on the market. Sam kept us up to date during the whole process, and we managed to sign and get the keys to our new flat within a week! The whole experience was great, and much better than other dealings we have had with other estate agents before! Thanks to Sam, we'll definitely be using Keatons again in the future - thank you!

Am amending my review as first was written in a state of anger, which is never advisable. As a first time landlord I had some issues with Keatons owing to a very unsatisfactory tenant who failed referencing but who I was encouraged to rent to anyway, which proved a mistake. Whilst ultimately my decision, I believe it was bad judgement from the organisation I employed the services of as experts. Nonetheless they helped me manage her out after six months, they marketed the flat well and got me excellent replacement tenants. I no longer rent it out so no longer use them or anyone else as a letting agent. They seem to be a good agent for tenants but I’ve not seen much on here from landlords. I was probably unlucky, and I’ve certainly learned a lesson in trusting my instincts, but I think perhaps they could learn that referencing is there for a reason and maybe not be so quick to overlook it in future.

Our experience with Keatons was excellent. Sam really went the extra mile to ensure all of our needs were met and that the whole process went smoothly and stress free. Thanks again Sam!
