However, I then drive past the house to see a “sold” sign. Contacting the branch as I’m surprised to see the sign, they tell me someone else put an offer in and had it accepted over 10 days ago. Shocked, it turns out they’d called me ONCE and left a voicemail to say it’s sold. These things shouldn’t been done over a voicemail.
I have no record of this call or voicemail on my phone, nothing to suggest they were trying to contact me. Turns out they didn’t even try to email me or call again.
So from my point of view I find out my offer has been pulled and the house I was trying to buy has been sold by DRIVING PAST.
They never made sure they actually spoke with me, didn’t chase the missed call or even send a follow up email. One phone call. They never made sure that I was informed by actually speaking to me.
You’d think it’d be in everyone’s interest to make sure they can get through. Not just attempt once and call it a day. We were trying to buy a house, of course we would have wanted to speak with someone, of course we would have called back if we received a voicemail. Even to let them know we couldn’t beat an offer. Why would we go cold contact on something we were invested in (bank and solicitor)? Seems odd.
So I’m finding out 10 days later that the house is gone and I had no chance to counter offer. They’ve chased me plenty in the past when it came to getting a house valuation/wanted to sell my house. They’ve chased when they wanted something from me. They didn’t chase to inform me as it wasn’t in their interest. I was of more use, so why bother?
They didn’t even sound sympathetic on the phone and offered no apology. Made out that it was my fault they didn’t communicate properly.
I’m not bitter or angry that we lost the house. I understand that was always a risk. That’s what happens when you’re buying a house.
I’m disappointed in the service and communication I’ve received from this branch. I feel unfairly treated and have lost out because of the service I received.
Throughout, I have dealt with Emma Liverick of the Merthyr Tydfil office.
From start to finish Emma has been outstanding, and has regularly gone above and beyond to provide what I can only describe as excellent service. Communication has always been perfect, and made what is a a stressful time as easy as can be.
I would highly recommend Bidmead, who provide a combination of professionalism, great customer service and friendless
Although I completely appreciate the uncertain times we are in, to furlough ypir staff and not advise clients, is not what I would call customer service.
Marc was a great help, but trying to get a return call, or feedback was like getting blood from a stone.
Allowed Bidmead 8 weeks to sell my property... had a handful of viewings. Transferred to Darlows, sold in 5 days.
Thankyou for all your help!! xx
