Northwood Cardiff

Tenants avoid at all costs. Having experience with Northwood as a tenant and reading reviews, they may provide a good service with sales but this is definitely not the case for rental properties. Our deposit was not protected within the legal timeframe, they tried to insist we take out tenant liability insurance, provided by Northwood (of course) and even called for a quote on my behalf. Emails regarding maintenance issues went unanswered, landlord was actually an employee of the company and when we went to citizens advice due to the landlord turning up unannounced, threatening servicing notice if we didn’t agree to something, we were informed the landlord was not registered, after 18 months of us being in the property. Northwood clearly don’t carry out appropriate checks when working with landlords.

The sign up process for Lettings was very easy. We viewed a property, submitted a Note of Interest and then we were offered the property. The check in process was also smooth. A member of staff met us at the property and we went through the inventory.

Any maintenance issues were dealt with by the landlord primarily which did ensure issues were resolved in a timely manner.

During our tenancy we had biannual 'check ups' from a Northwood appointed 3rd Party. This was relatively painless but they usually took quite some time to book in. Not sure they were necessary for such a short lease. One another occasion, Northwood forgot to actually book in the Gas Safe engineer, that resulted in a half day wasted.

Check out was a different experience. In all my past rentals the agent or landlord met at the property a few weeks before the end date to see if there are any issues we needed to 'make good', avoiding any disputes with the DPS. Northwoods process is different. Once you've handed the keys back they will then arrange their 3rd party to inspect the property. Thankfully, we had a good relationship with our landlord and we were able to agree to meet on the day of check out to go through the inventory.

I did have to chase the deposit a week after checkout but it was then released the next day.

Overall we were happy with Northwood as managing agents but in reality, it was our landlord organised the majority of any maintenance/fixes required.

Jo was a true pleasure to work with during our property search. She was extremely professional and knowledgeable, always on hand to provide expert advice and guidance. Her attention to detail was second to none and she went above and beyond to ensure the process was as smooth as possible for us. Jo made us feel like we were her only clients, and was always available to answer any questions or concerns we had. Her excellent communication skills meant we were kept informed every step of the way. We couldn't recommend Jo highly enough to anyone looking to buy or sell a property, she's a true asset to the industry.

Just started my tenancy with Northwood and thus far they have been brilliant! Personally I have been dealing with Claire who has been great! Completely understanding of my situation and always at the end of the phone or email! Like any new property there was one or two things that needed doing but they have been on it straight away. The whole process has been easy and straight forward!

Couldn't fault Claire from Northwood Cardiff Estate agents as she provided a really helpful and stress free move into our new property, even making sure to contact the energy providers and local council we needed for us to help set it up. I can't fault the service provided by Northwood, when selling our house. Lewis and the rest of the team have been amazing, with clear communication throughout the process. We won't hesitate to use them again in the future!
