Homewise Limited

An investment company buying up huge amounts of property in Devon which is impacting the availability of homes available to all buyers. Looks like they are offering homes at reduced prices to over 60s and then making them into tenants in a house they bought!

With the price of everything going up so much I want to move somewhere easier to manage and less expensive to run, maybe a new build. I’ve found a few properties while searching, but they’re all more than I can afford. A friend of mine moved with Homewise a couple of years ago and when I told them about my problem they recommended it, saying it was the best decision they’d made. I did some research and called them straight away. They helped me to find a really nice new build that doesn’t need any work doing, which is a huge relief. Thank you, Homewise.

I retire in a few years, and I know that my pension pot isn’t quite as big as I’d like so I’ll probably have to downsize to cut costs, it would also be great to have some money put by. I got a letter from Homewise and initially it seemed like it was too good to be true, but then I called them. They explained everything about their Home for Life Plan to me and knowing that there is something available for me when I’m ready to retire is actually quite reassuring.

We used this service for our parents, they were still living in the family home, way too big for them and still with a mortgage to pay. We managed to move them nearer to us, in a lovely smaller home with no debt and know they are safe and happy is all we want as a family. Homewise included us all in the process and they couldn't have been clearer on the offering. It has worked out wonderfully and we thank you!

The day I came across Homewise changed my life.. It was the answer to my problems. After 4 years or more of trying to find the right property to downsize to and live near my only family (my daughter) after so much sadness in my life - they helped me to be able to find my new home and afford it and joyfully live in it as I want to. The whole process was taken off my shoulders and the Homewise folk were so understanding, patent and courteous. It was the total answer for me as a mortgage was out of the question and I now have no money worries regarding buying this property and will still have sufficient when the time comes to pass to my daughter. My friend moved to Portugal about 10 years ago, but last year decided they wanted to come back and found that their property wasn’t worth anywhere near what they thought it would be. They’re both retired and live off their pension so I did a bit of research to find out if there was anything that could help and found Homewise. My friend called them to find out more. The Home for Life Plan gave them the lifeline they needed and in January they’re moving back to the UK.

I called these guys to discuss their product on behalf of my mum. I don't think it's for us but I was impressed that they were so clear and factual about what they were offering. If you expect them to be a social charity to give you free money to buy a lovely house you will be very disappoinred but if you approach this on the basis that you are dealing with a for-profit business, it will make a lot of sense for some people to get the home they want and more importantly security to live there long term. Even though this isn't for us, I wouldn't give it 1 star as some have because they are pretty up front about what they offer. I suspect people who have left very low review scores approached this service with unrealistic expectations.
