We've been renting our current property through Harlequin for just over a year. Upon reporting a number of maintenance jobs that required rectification recently including replacing the door on the cooker after it blew out (only fitted last year) and the living room carpet, the jobs were approved and undertaken in a quick and timely manner. We mainly dealt with Jodie throughout and found her to be extremely friendly and helpful. The staff are always willing to listen and help wherever they can and we are very happy to continue renting through them. Despite previous reviews this is not a fake account!!

I have only been renting from Harlequin for a short time (three months) but the experience has been brilliant.
From first walking in the office to now, they have been very welcoming, kind and reassuring.
I have had a few teething problems with the house but every issue has been resolved promptly.
They have given me permission to update the property to my taste; which I find extremely generous.
They have had no issues with a cat moving in (I just have to amend any damages should they happen).
I am overall very content and pleased with my experience with Harlequin and hope to be renting from them for a long time!

I had heard really bad reports about Harlequin regarding customer service, never doing repairs etc. We recently sold our house and moved to rented until we buy another. Harlequin were so helpful especially, Jodie, Jemma & Carla. All went smoothly. We have reported a couple of repairs, fence down, boiler not working. Girls were so helpful, repairs completed in less than 48 hours. We would not hesitate to recommend to anyone.

We viewed the property with Harlequin warning us that it was still in a state afrer the previous tenant moved out.

It was filthy but we understood the issue.

There was some damage to some areas and we outlined that we would want those to be repaired. There was also no shower installed. We advised that we would want a mixer/shower tap installing and that would be a deal-breaker.

A fortnight later they asked us if we would like to go for another viewing as they had made progress with work.
They then called us back as the keys were still with the builders and they could not get them that day.
This excuse continued for another 2 weeks as they also replaced the front door.
We finally arranged a new day and time. We arrived a few minutes early, they then rang to say that they could not make the time as once again the builder had not dropped off the keys. (I had stopped believing this lie, I just think they're incompetent). They arranged for an hour later.
We entered the new property and it was still filthy. The issue was though, they had painted the walls, while it was filthy, so they painted over the dirt. None of the damages had been repaired including a crumbling kitchen unit door.
When I mentioned the shower not yet installed Carly advised she didn't know anything about it and that I was best going to the office. I decided to do just that, on my way, another one of the Harlequin team called me and advised that she was just going to refund my application fee.
I agreed and feel like I dodged a bullet.
I feel sorry for that landlord as the house was still on the market by December.
They have a lot of properties on Right Move because the ones not listed with them go but they stay on the market because all locals know their reputation.
Incompetent, lazy, like to skip corners and scam tenants.
I found a much better property not for from the one above as that was the area I wanted.

Do not give this company any money!!!! Took us months to get a holding deposit back (they withdrew the application due to a landlord issue).
Their phone is never answered due to "them not being based in the office" (when they're really just hiding around the back) and they take days to reply to emails, or just ignore them! Was a really stressful few months and glad we're far from them.

So far in process, will update as we go. I was shown the property, very lovely lady (can’t remember your name, sorry!) but was very impressed. Spoke to JEMMA and Carla a few times and nothing but great, yea I mean communication can slide a little and I’m wanting updates like daily which is unrealistic but they do try and you can see that. They’re busy people.

Hopefully in a couple of weeks this can be a 5/5 review.

Thank you ladies! Keep up the good work.

0 stars. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. Edit September 2022, they are STILL holding my deposit illegally and have been since November 2021!!
Do not rent or buy with this shoddy outfit. They do not respond to emails or phone calls. They’ve been holding on to my deposit since November and have stopped responding to my emails. Avoid at all costs! Apparently never passed my rent on to the landlord either and don’t pay their contractors

We were very upset about our experience with harlequin recently.
We need a place to live an saw a 3 bedroom property in our budget advertised by them. It had problems but it was local so we wanted to see it.
The house was dirty and needed repairs. We agreed to do some of the work if theyd lower the deposit, which they also agreed to. But they were to do the main repairs.
So we went ahead and sent them all the paperwork they asked for, which if you ask me is very specific and quite prying into all your details which i doubt they need. Be aware of what they ask of you, its excessive.
We also paid them a starter amount of £132, which i guess is for admin work? They didnt actually specify what this payment was for, they just out right asked for it when we said we wanted to go ahead with the property.
Things seemed to be going ahead very slowly. They said repairs would get done on the house and theyd update us.
We tried to keep in touch for weeks. It took so long to get hold of them for information and updates due to their office being shut and phones voicemail full. So the only option we had was email.
It took them 3 or 4 days, sometimes a week to respond and most of the time they sort of just side stepped what wed said/asked and that theyd get back to us with an update.
This went on, like i said, for weeks. We started getting quite nervous and desperate as our tennancy on our current house was coming to an end and we needed to move out.
We were looking forward to being able to do the house up a bit and make it into a little home for us!

It came to literally the week before moving out and harlequin turned round to us via email to say the landlord had found their own tennants for the house. Which i dont even think is allowed if the agency are doing it?! Theyd lead us on the entire time and this left us with nowhere to live and having to move in with relatives.
They offered their apologies and a refund of the £132 we paid. Its been a few weeks and were still waiting for the refund!
Just not good enough at all really.
So unprofessional doing that to someone, to take their money and paperwork if youre going to be underhanded about it and find someone else.
Theyve had money off of us and alot of details, including our guarantor's details. They have been intouch about this and will be keeping a sharp eye out for any activity as its very suspicious and feels alot like a scam.
I dont recommend them.
