Probably one of the finest country pub/restaurants in the county. Owned and managed by the same family for over 30 years, once visited you'll always return.

Came here for Sunday lunch whilst on our canal boat holiday. Food was delicious and the restaurant area was well spaced out and pleasant to eat in. Ignore the amount of veg on my plate, my partner doesn't like it so I get his portion!

Better have good teeth if you have a Sunday roast. Nice stuffing and Yorkie. Meat like old boot leather, roasties tasted frozen

Waited next to staff member whilst she served another customer, was ignored, had to say hello first and asked do we need to find table first, couldn't get to ask if it was table service as the staff member replied straight away, well how do we know where to bring your food. Terrible Terrible attitude and utter lack of service, miserable faced front of house and attitude to match. Put down menu and walked out.

Avoid drinking out of glasses and stick to bottles glasses where filthy second time I’ve been in there now and noticed how filthy they where , also could do with a fly zapper the place was full of them , overall the pub could do with a good old clean.

My last 2020 & 21 CAMRA Good Beer Guide entry completed successfully, and two well kept pints (Proper Job, and the excellent Marstons Pedigree).

Friendly and convivial landlord, Simon, (see photo). Well worth the trip. Good walking location being near the Ashby Canal, with a bus stop very close by linking to Atherstone.
