A great meal next to chorley station

Paper straws, decent vegan menu choice, tasty. Both full for £30

Pros: Lot of vegan options, good drinks, Easy to order with QR code or at bar, Fast service, nice staff

Cons: Music a little loud for me

First time visiting Calico Lounge. Food and drinks were good but they lose a star due to service. The guy who seated us said for us to sit at Table 18 and pointed to the area where said table was located, and that was pretty much it for our intro... only when we got to the area there was no table 18. Table 12 was free and so I flagged him down and asked if he meant this one, to which he said yes. We've never been before so didn't know it wasn't table service. We sat for ages waiting for someone to take our order before realising we had to order at the bar (and only realised that because there was a queue forming). It would have been nice for them to tell us when they allocated us our table!

Took my daughter today as a treat. A brilliant gluten free menu, easy to navigate and order. So much choice and some unique meals that we've never seen before. We loved it and can't wait to visit again.

A relaxed environment with friendly staff. You can order at bar or via QR code. Good food with a menu that caters for all. Hot drinks, coktails, beer, gin and ciders available. Breakfast and brunch on the menu. Monday & Tuesday deals available. Parking - nearest is flat iron car park which has disabled spaces and electric vehicle charging (currently free to use). Dogs welcomed.

Update (26/10/22): Thank you for responding to my review. It is appreciated. I understand the server may have been new to the job - just to clarify she did read back the dishes when placing them on the table but mislabelled them all.

For e.g. A biryani bowl was named 'spicy rice' which was a side. The actual spicy rice was put on the tapas tray along with another side 'healthy salad' and the whole platter passed off as 'tapas'. This can have consequences as the items from different food groups (with and without allergens) were served mixed and match on a platter as well as mislabelled when placed on the table. Hence, an important observation to be reported in review.

Walked in with family (including a child) on Tuesday night. Got a table after a short wait at the door.

Comfortable seating, nice ambience and spacious interior. Good vibe.

Ordered at table via their app using QR code. A selection of few vegan, vegetarian and gluten free dishes.

1. Waitress attending didn’t know what food she put on the table. Wrongly labelled all but 1/6 dishes. We had to go back to menu to figure what was what from its description.

2. Got us a wrong drink, minor. Got it fixed in a jiffy.

3. The food itself - not the best in quality. Flatbreads were rather rubbery and overdone. The vegan keema mince were overdone therefore bitter.

4. Overall couple of dishes were overdressed with sour dressing be it vinegar or the likes of it.

5. Vegan biryani bowl was decent. Halloumi burger was ordered vegan but came with non vegan coleslaw.

6. Kids menu had no vegan options. So had to go gluten free tapas option instead. Cheddar and sweetcorn fritters were refried and oozing oil. Not very ideal for a child.

7. Minor but for a nice family meal out it would’ve been nice to have the candle on the table lit. Didn’t take away any stars for this btw!

8. Might give it another chance on a weekend perhaps to see if quality is any better and if service is more sincere.

Visited Calico Lounge for the first time during a day out at Chorley market Upon entering Calico the staff was very helpful and directed us to a tablet with menus. Ordering is at the bar and my order of a Lounge breakfast and sausage on brioche was taken promptly and our food came out within 15 minutes. Portion sizes and quality was good and prices are reasonable . The atmosphere is relaxed, there is music 🎶 playing slightly loud but not excessively so . Overall we enjoyed our visit and I'd recommend this Calico Lounge 👍🏻
