Don't know what's happened recently. We visit fairly regularly and it's always been good (until now)
Changed my review from a 5 to a 2.

Positives - Nice building, food pretty good.

Negatives - Service awful. Young waitresses standing around doing literally nothing. Tables not cleared. We weren't asked if we needed anything. Didn't get offered a drink in well over an hour of being there. Had to constantly call them over.
Chefs asking for 'sevice' 2 or 3 times before someone came.

Disappointing. Hopefully someone starts running the place better again.

Food was amazing, we had the 7oz fillet steak ,with peppercorn sauce and green beans. (Loved the green beans mixed with pesto) The food was divine , the staff were very attentive and welcoming.
100% recommend for food or to just sit and a have a drink in a lovely relaxing environment.

We found this good restaurant for lunch when we visited Natural History Museum at Tring. It was pretty quiet in the beginning. The waiter lead us to a table by the window. We’ve ordered a shared ANTIPASTO MISTO and AVOCADO, ROCKET & NEW POTATO. The quality and quantity are great for two of us. When you visit Tring, this is the restaurant we highly recommend. We enjoyed it very much.

Husband thoroughly enjoyed his fish n chips, said it was excellent. My bangers n mash also very good - I just hate it when modern chefs pile all ingredients on top of each other. I had a mountain of mash, veggies on top, sausages on top of that and the whole covered with onion gravy. Every bit of it was great except that I only wanted gravy on the sausages! Very tasty, just don't want it in a mountain!

I had a fantastic family lunch today for my birthday.
We have never been to the Akeman before but it was absolutely lovely.
Our waiter Peter was brilliant and looked after us throughout. It was lovely to have such a leisurely lunch without being rushed. Delicious food, great value and wonderful service. (The birthday prosecco and candle were a very special, unexpected bonus. Thank you :)
What more more could you want?
Thank you!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Went to The Akeman on a Wednesday evening for a light bite with two work colleagues. The welcome was warm and inviting and after a quick drink at the fully stocked bar (reasonable pricing) we were shown to our table at the back of the restaurant. There were several items on the menu were not available 😶but I settled on a pizza followed by a lemon trifle desert. The pizza was delicious (see image) but the desert was to sweet and sickly even for my sweet tooth. It environment was good and it was certainly busy, pricing was reasonable and I will be back.

Judging by their website, I assumed there would be plenty of vegan lunch options available. I was disheartened to see my choices were minimal, but I decided to go for a vegan cheese pizza. The children options were much better: £9 for 3 courses and one side.
