Yogan

I’d been waiting to try this place for ages and was very underwhelmed by the food. The sushi was nice, but nothing to write home about. The BBQ pork bao was dry and completely tasteless. The duck gyoza were tasteless and cold. The tempura veg tasted like a bowl of oil. The chicken karage was nice and the chili squid was brilliant.
I expected more from somewhere so hyped up and on the pricey side, but unfortunately it was just expensive hype. Our stomachs weren’t best pleased afterwards either.
The restaurant setting is unusual and quite cool and the staff are pleasant but it lacks character and atmosphere. We didn’t try the cocktails so couldn’t comment.

Love their skewers and the portion is generous. But the ramen is not authentic. The noodle they used for ramen is more like Chinese egg noodles instead of proper Japanese ramen, which is a shame.

Was excited to try this relatively new Japanese restaurant but was left disappointed for a number of a reasons. Firstly the miso soup was barely edible, incredibly vinegary and had bits of grit in it - this was mentioned to the waitress but we didn't get any feedback.

The lighting was annoying as it was flickering constantly but it was later adjusted when another patron complained. Food was quite slow to arrive and it wasn't exactly busy.

The sushi was of a reasonable standard but not worth the prices asked. Honestly, if you're after decent Japanese food, go to Kibou, you won't be disappointed and you at least get what you pay for there.

Having been to Japan, my friends and I have a lust for authentic Japanese food. Living in Cheltenham we are fortunate to have a number of great Japanese restaurants. Yogan is no exception to this!

From the moment we entered to the moment we left we had a 5 star experience. The staff are friendly/helpful and the food is amazing. We will definitely return in future.

We went to Yogan's for the first time as we were visiting family in the area in our group of six. We decided to sample a variety of dishes - katafi prawns, dynamite roll and softshell crab were for me, personal highlights. Food quality was outstanding and well presented.
Amazing service - we were glad to try this, which was based upon word of mouth. Would recommend to anyone who is after a quality Japanese restaurant, the sushi is outstanding.

Food unbelievable. Cocktails delicious. Staff wonderful. Fully worth a visit!!

First time visiting Yogan and I was not disappointed. The fact that they had Aircon in this heatwave was a bonus! There was a good ambiance, the staff were very welcoming and attentive, checking we had enough table water, drinks and that everything was ok with the food. The tables were spaced out nicely and the restaurant was very clean.

I had the crispy chilli squid to start and it was quite possibly the tastiest I've had. Really crispy with just the right amount of a kick. I also tried the BBQ gyoza which were delicious. I had chicken noodles for my main and the veg was cooked perfectly - I ate every morsel.

I would definitely go back and very much recommend.

Cannot rate my experience at yogan high enough. The service was wonderful, probably the best I have had in the last year or two. The food was fantastic and the drinks topped off the perfect night what a perfect night.
