Breakfast was fantastic and can’t be knocked, always a seat plenty of stock and a smile from the morning waitress.
This all fails unfortunately in the evening when different members of management try to run the place and the chefs must be working with a limited a budget or food as whilst I was waiting I heard people complain about certain dishes served and my food, well you can see what I was served. Something was missing off the dish every night, presentation is also not top of the list either for premier inn guests choosing to have a meal in there room even though it is advertised at the premier inn. Food is wedged into an un recyclable container and the lid wedged down. Experience taught me to hunt out cutlery condiments and napkins otherwise the serving staff just disappeared.
Whilst I understand this industry may be short staffed after the pandemic this then doesn’t allow for what looked like the manageress to sit with her friends whilst waiting times for main meals exceeded 45 minutes .
I had high hopes for this restaurant being in such a prime location and next to a new (ish) premier inn.
Part of this visit was to see if we could set up for an in company training centre with candidates staying at the Premier inn and eating every evening at the cook house but after seeing this past week we will need to reevaluate our options as we can’t have candidates waiting 45 minutes or food served below what is your breakfast standard.
Called in for food waiting to be seated and could see two young ladies running in and out of kitchen, they would glanse over but were too busy to approach us, lady behind bar who appeared to be managed asked are we waiting for bar.
After 10 minutes we got a table. The server was very pleasant.
After meal I tried to get a second pint but was asked if I want sweet.
Food was OK.slow at clearing tables, down to staff shortage I think.
Our visit was not as bad as some of the reviews but I do think management problems exist.
Their kids were tearing around between the tables, disturbing everyone else and crashed into 2 of the waitresses multiple times, spilling food and drink, parents did nothing. Waitresses couldn't avoid them as they were literally running everywhere, 3 of them, stripping their t shirts off and hitting each other (and occasionally other diners) with them, screaming and shouting.
Despite several other tables complaining the manager was nowhere to be seen. Our waitress Madison was amazing and apologised for them when they disturbed us and repeatedly told the children to stop running when they crashed into her but was either ignored or got another barrage of abuse.
I find it disgraceful that she was left to deal with them even if she did do it with an admirable amount of patience and professionalism. Even under so much stress and personal insults she never stopped smiling and made our visit a lot more pleasant.
Her manager ought to have been on the floor dealing with these people and not leaving her staff to just take the abuse with no consequences.
I understand that they may not have wanted to escalate the situation but then the manager who made that decision should be serving them.
