I decided to eat some birds nest noodles I knew it this place used to do it... disappointing they don’t do it anymore 😞
The service was ok.

They had an amazing ceremony for the lunar Chinese New Year I really enjoy it...
my food was ok... some of the dishes were a bit plane not flavour, could be better.
I think they need to renovate some of the furniture in there.

Eating food influenced by the Far East was an exciting prospect when I was growing up. Much like a lot of foreign food that has been on our menus for generations it’s now part of British culture. After generations it has been tailored to meet the needs of the populous. What you expect in British Chinese in food is what you’ll get at KalaRED.
The venue is large and appears to turn into a pub/Club. I’m sure on a non school night you’ll get to smash a jägermeister with your mates while finishing off the last of the prawn crackers.

Whenever me and the Mrs want to go out for a chinese we always go here! Food is always spot on, freshly cooked full of flavour and well priced. Easily the best chinese in town!

We had a nice experience at kalaRED. Went in for an evening meal after a long day out walking and weren't disappointed. I recommend booking in advance of an evening though, we got lucky as there was a lull just before the rush but it does get busy. We were seated promptly at a table for two and were immediately asked if we would like a drink. The server was incredibly attentive. The menu itself is very extensive, boasting set meals as well as a la carte. We opted for Set Menu B for 2 with a few extras on the side. The menu also boasts quite a lot of dim sum options, of which we had soup dumplings. They could've been a little more soupy for my liking but were pleasant. Our other starters were salt and pepper squid and salt and pepper ribs; both delicious. The beginning of out set menu also arrived at this time, a selection of hors d'oeuvres including, crispy wontons, satay chicken, butterfly king prawn, smoked chicken, seaweed and dry ribs. The wontons were the only disappointing item; little to no "stuffing". This appetiser platter was shortly followed by a quarter roast duck with the trimmings, pulled tableside. Delicious! After this our portions of egg fried rice, chicken, prawns and beef were delivered. All quite tasty though a little under seasoned aside from the beef in my opinion. We did have to wait for a good while for the bill unfortunately, though only a minor inconvenience. Overall a nice experience. My stars are only deducted for the food not being quite as mind blowing as I would've liked.

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with my first order with you! Order arrived with Tea Smoked Chicken and Hot Sweet and Sour soup MISSING!!! STILL waiting for response or refund! Stole my money and delivered half of bloody order, disgusting! Thai Lemongrass soup is the worse one I tried, way too sweet tastes strange and not much in it, I fused it down the toilet and since they didn't deliver my other soup now I'm left with nothing!! NEVER EVER ORDER from these people again!

PS the rest of the food was poorly made and very bland. DONT WASTE your money with them

Honestly I'm in utter shock that this place has 4 stars! The food was just a plate of oil, and flavourless! Woke up in the morning really sick!
Seriously you couldn't offer me a free meal or pay me to go back. The bill came to £80 and I had to really ask myself "I just paid £80 to be mugged off"
Lesson learnt, NEVER again!

Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff (they speak mandarin and Cantonese!), Good drinks, great value, the sake bombs are so fun! Great night out

Fusion of excellent drinks (sake bomb in particular must be tried), excellent service (inspired use of the gong), and excellent food (I can only imagine as I've never dared to mix the food and the drink!)
