We booked two rooms here via Booking
I am amazed by the fact that nowhere on Booking or in the communication from property was never mentioned that the place was open by a great chef, owner of a Michelin star. If I knew that i would have made all the efforts to be there for check in before 20:00 when kitchen started to close. Is not something ordinary to have this opportunity and i feel sorry that we missed it. When i expressed my sadness especially being my birthday (at 20:40when we arrived and kitchen was closing) ... i got a shrug from staff as feedback. At least we have been sent to a local pub with a decent food, but somehow i was expecting more courtesy.
Unexpected for us somehow, i think that the staff still needs some time to get used to have also tourists visiting not only locals knowing the house policy.

Went here with two friends to celebrate a birthday. The food was interesting without being fussy. Good choice of wines. Service was friendly and efficient without being intrusive. Will be back.

We were so looking forward to eating at MJP's but left after the main course rather disappointed.
The environment and service are fine and we had a good sized table which is rare these days.
The food mostly tasted great and was obviously prepared with care and we took advantage of some 'small plates' and some 'large'. But beware, small is too small to be acceptable as a starter and my large Haunch of Venison (£26) only contained three tiny pieces of venison - what I can only describe as slivers. It was also only just warm but otherwise delicious. Just a shame that the price/portion equation is so badly balanced.

We had lunch with friends and it was exactly what we were looking for: great food, prompt service, perfect atmosphere. We will definitely go back. We loved the option to have smaller portions, so we could enjoy some of the excellent starters too. The sourdough bread was perfect.

Disappointing
We booked a lunch here for my birthday. The experience was disappointing. First, their service lets them down. We were frowned upon for ordering tap water as opposed to their 'filtered' tap water for a charge. We weren't advised that the main we ordered, their sirloin steak with mushrooms really needed a side dish and it was too late to order one when it arrived. Nor was asked what size of wine glass I wanted, so I got 125 ml of red to go with my rather large main course. The starters were very nice, however the main course was a let down. The sirloin steak was extremely chewy. Overall, would not recommend nor go back.

Went for a Sunday meal. Food had good flavour, maybe too much flavour, with a theoretical make-your-own-tasting-menu. There ends the good news. Reluctant service, a not quite clean wine glass, and I suspect the "sirloin" plate had rump on it, as it would have been the toughest sirloin I've ever chewed. Also, selling filtered tap water feels a bit disingenuous. Pretensions to fine dining require the corresponding effort.

We had lunch at MJP and the food was really top quality, paired with some really nice wines. This restaurant is a fine dining destination in the Cambridge area, and we will definitely visit again!

We went for our anniversary and decided to go for the Chef's tasting menu. To start with they asked us what sort of foods we didn't like so they can select dishes appropriatly, which i thought it was great!

Can't fault any of the plates, every course was delicious. The portions are small plates, as they should be in a tasting menu so I wouldn't recommend if you are looking for bigger plates. For me they were the right size for the menu we choose.

The service was also amazing, taking into account our choices and even suggesting wine options thay fit our preferences.

They have 2-course and 3-course menus as well, which we will definetly go to try in the future.

Highest recommedation in Cambridge!
