The Glasshouse at Holloways

Sorry not to be able to leave a great review but our experience on a Sunday was very poor.

Service didn’t start out great. The specials were gone (1pm on a Sunday) and the rest of the menu limited at best.

Half the starters were brought over but the others left on the counter and that’s where they stayed until we asked for them. When they did arrive the soup was served with butter but no bread ;) Totally not the end of the world and forgivable so far. Although the poor service wasn’t because it was busy as it wasn’t at all.

However one of the soups also had a special ingredient in the form of a large bluebottle fly!

This was politely pointed out and the soup changed but no real apology and when the bill came I thought at least one soup might have been taken off but no.

So overall very average and won’t go back again for the food...shop is nice enough though :)

Beautiful place and pleasant shopping experience but shockingly poor plant based option ( just one ! ) on the menu. The single vegan offering was a tasteless burger made from a somewhat dubious meat substitute pressed between a stale bun. Thoroughly disappointing .

I took my wife here for her birthday. The food and drink were very good if a tadge expensive. A nice place to go for a treat.

Nice setting and good food. Pleasant ambience and good service.

They do a very nice afternoon tea

The cafe was like everything else at Holloways, beautiful. The staff were delightful and helpful. The fare was delicious. The acid test for me is always the coffee, which was so nice I purchased a bag to take home. I really would recommend it most highly and will return soon. Do treat yourself!

Not great.

On arrival 6 members of staff were engrossed in an intense conversation......after about 3 minutes of standing there, we asked, presumably a member of staff, if they were open. She replied that she wasn't sure.

The group clearly did not appreciate our interruption.

We were seated at a table and given menus.

About 5 minutes later, another couple came in and sat at an adjacent table. They ordered drinksand a few moments later a member of staff served them. There ensued a long conversation between the couple and the staff member.......all this while presumably 5 plus staff were in the other section I assume still conversing?

After 25 minutes we left.

Suggest staff training issues

Good coffee and a great selection of cakes.
Good service and a lovely place for coffee to relax after mooching round the store.
Always recommend this place, worth a visit
