Treated to a delightful Afternoon Tea in the Palm Court. The decor and atmosphere is very elegant, transports you back to the 1920s art deco era. The food was presented beautifully and tasted amazing. Great choice of very delicate patisseries and sandwiches. They were happy to serve food separately due to an allergy and amend some of the choices for us. Great service throughout the whole experience. My only complaint is the scones, very doughy and tough to chew, they stick to the roof of your mouth. Other than that the afternoon was perfect.

I was disappointed to have been sat in the servery and not the main palm court restaurant.

Whilst service was efficient we had to wait for clean plates at the carvery for 5 minutes.

It was difficult to get anyones attention to pay the bill and we had to get up and seek someone out to do this.

On production of the bill we were charged for deserts which had not been ordered, and had to ask for this to be corrected. The bill was overcharged by some £24.

The service charge was not adjusted to reflect the overall bill.

Whilst I am not saying I would not book again, I could not be sure I could get a place in the main restaurant, which is why we booked in the first place. So was very disappointed to be sat in a cold corner where there is no atmosphere.

The food was acceptable but some of the vegetables too hard to inedible as were stuffing balls. Hard on outside and gooey in middle.

I would hope the food on al la carte menu is much better if I make a return visit. This was a pre visit to booking for a special occasion.

Absolutely 5 star. Place is gorgeous. Food is amazing. Probably the best meal in the best surroundings I've had. Would absolutely recommend it.

Visited this place for afternoon tea and we were very impressed with the place, the sparkling afternoon tea was very tasty, the service was exemplary we were asked if we would like an extra tea or coffee. We felt really pampered.
We sat by a lovely fountain in a lovely setting with a piano playing behind us.
Sparkling afternoon tea for two costs £33.00.

Beautiful setting, great afternoon tea. Cocktails nothing like the real thing, tasted awful.. .. also staff not very attentive and spent far too much time talking to each other at the bar, not once did they come to us, we had to wave and ask for them..... also the pianist was good, but to loud at his end and not loud enough at the other end, they should put him in the middle.....

The setting is lovely. The staff excellent, polite and helpful. However, it only gets 3☆. The carvery was OK but the chef needed to cut and grill our beef because we didn't want it with blood. The turkey and bacon joint were fine. But for £17 lamb and pork would be nice to have. Also the roast potatoes were too hard to cut presumably because they had stood too long and the stuffing was inedible as these cubes were rock solid. Even picking them up you needed to use your fingers and you couldn't crunch them with your teeth as they were far too hard. We informed a manager who removed them from the carvery buffet - bit too late then. Cocktails are expensive and service for drinks afterwards slow. We could see our drinks on the bar but needed to wait quite a while for someone to bring them over to us. And it wasn't busy. We had breakfast there the next morning and this was OK but again food had stood too long. Eggs were like plastic and bacon bit chewy. Sausages were lovely as were the mushrooms and fried bread. Good selection of breakfast food but bread limited to brown or white toast. Don't get me wrong it was a hearty and tasty full English breakfast just not quite up to our expectations of a 4☆ hotel.

Stayed here with my boyfriend for two nights and went to Palm Court for both dinners. The food is incredible. It’s not a Michelin star restaurant but I would put it along the same category. There are live performances on Friday night as well. The ambience and deco are right on the point, relaxing yet elegant. Recommended for any romantic occasions.

Food wasn't as good as the previous visit. Not a great start that the glasses and cutlery weren't polished. Pate came with no garnish looked boring. But tasted OK. Shame about the rock hard toast some bits were overly garlicky Main was lovely braised beef. Both our desserts a bit tasteless not worth the money. Great staff and lovely atmosphere.
