Mrs Gills recently catered for my wife and I's wedding. We had a garden party for our reception so had a high tea selection with some hot foods added, and ofcourse a wedding cake. All was not only to an exceptional standard but was delivered and set up on time and also came with vintage crockery to match our theme. Mrs Gills also allowed us to borrow her OWN cake stand which is intended for her own wedding.
I unfortunately suffer with chronic anorexia nervosa, and upon us disclosing this information she was utterly empathetic and supportive of my very own needs around eating and took extra time and care to listen to what I actually would like, given my anorexia I don't tend to allow my self these things. However I did indeed eat the wedding cake!!! And I can safely say it was excellent.
We are forever grateful to you all for being so understanding of my needs along with catering for for our guests. There is no way we could ever thank you enough.
Natasha and Keira.

Absolutely excellent Sunday roast here. I had beef and turkey, plenty of vegetables and we had a HUGE gravy boat! Highly recommended. Service was very friendly and helpful and the food came out less than 10 minutes from ordering. Try it you won't regret it!

Ì live in Exeter and I usually come to Tiverton every other Tuesday to do my shopping.
Ì always go into Mrs Gills and have a breakfast which is first class plus I have bought quite a few Victoria sponges cakes which are excellent. Christmas cake, Dundee cake.
The staff work very hard, it's very clean there and tidy and always a warm welcome and nothing is too much trouble.

Not from the area, but popped in here for Sunday Brunch. We were seated quite quickly but then nothing happened for 6 minutes. Others came in and were served their roasts before we were even given a Menu! Infact I had to ask for a Menu!! We were told all the roasts had run out, but that was ok as we only wanted a sandwich and a Panini. We ordered and after 30 mins our food came. The salad leaves had been in a bag/bowl for too long, not really fresh. The scone we ordered after was quite the opposite, warm, fresh with lovely Jam & cream.
There was one waitress doing everything on her own, whilst a girl stood at the till doing nothing & another chap who I assumed was a waiter, travelled around the room doing absolutely nothing!! Respect to the lone waitress, but really people stood around doing nothing is unforgivable.
Poor Mrs Gill would have been most upset with this service, as this was not a reflection on the business she created.
Other travellers avoid this on a Sunday Lunch as all they focus on is pre-booked roast dinners and from observation, they didn't look that good!
Real shame, as I see other people seem to rate this place very highly. I can't conclude they were short staffed, just completely oblivious to customers needs that day!

A really friendly and welcoming cafe/restaurant. Fantastic customer service with nothing too much trouble. Food was freshly cooked to order and served promptly.
The "chunky" chips were some of the best I've tasted, lightly seasoned with Rosemary and cooked to golden. Delicious!
There is also a large selection of amazing cakes and scones available daily.
The staff are very customer focused which I was not expecting but really value. Will definitely be revisiting when next in the area.

Went for a high tea and it was the best high tea ever. They even boxed up the left over cake for us to take home. The food tasted AMAZING and the staff were friendly too. Can’t wait to go again!

Lovely place to go. Really friendly staff. I had a really nice ham salad sandwich and a slice of lemon drizzle cake. The cake was beautiful. It was really lemony and delicious. I took a piece of brownie home to eat and that is incredible. The best brownie I've ever had and I will definitely be back for another piece. Thank you for a really enjoyable lunch.
