The Galleon Steak House

Went to the galleon last night for food with some family members. It’s was absolutely outstanding from arriving to leaving the staff couldn’t do enough for us made to feel very welcome. The food was out of this world cooked to perfection the Stilton and onion garlic bread is definitely one to be tried absolutely amazing. Keep up the good work 😊 we will be back

1st time at the Galleon Steakhouse for dinner last night. We were seated immediately and left to look at the menus. We shared the olives and bread platter as a starter, which was tasty. Mains, my wife had the sea bass, cointreau cheesecake and a couple of gins. She said everything was delicious. I had the mixed grill which was cooked to perfection. I didn't have any room for dessert. The staff are fantastic. Attentive, polite, helpful and friendly. The decor is pleasant and the seats comfortable. Our first time at the Galleon won't be our last.

Great friendly and efficient service, the meal portions are great, the steaks we ordered were done to perfection with a great choice of sides and sauces. Puddings were all amazing! the choice of drinks was good and the overall bill was average. Only other recommendation i could think of was more vegetarian/vegan options ( there are two) so that it makes it easier for families to come and return. Thanks again we will be back :)

There is a sting in the tail with this place so read until the end. Okay four of us went and spent a total of £165.80. I cannot comment on others food but the noises went from great to not so good. Personally I ordered the T Bone steak, not cheap at £32 but if it's a good cut, which it was, it was worth it. Asked for Medium Rare and got more medium than M-R but this can happen sometimes. The hand cut chips were good also but I was a bit disappointed at a quarter of tomato and one onion ring. It really could have done with a few items more or even some mushrooms to mix it up a little. Anyway the score would've been between four and five but on paying the waitress asked if I wanted to add a tip to the card machine, I said no as I was giving her a £10 note, she then said I'll take it off then (bit presumptious to put it on it the first place). I entered my numbers, couldn't see the final amount as the place is dimly lit, gave the waitress the £10 and left. Later my phone me the receipt which showed I had paid the full £165.80 bill plus £10 in tip. This left a bit of a sour taste to be honest but maybe it was a mistake so have left a three rating rather than giving my gut feeling, of two.

Me and my wife enjoyed our meals here. I had the burger which was really tasty and my wife had the ribeye which she said was nice. For dessert we both had the chocolate wreck we were disappointed, the last time we had this a couple of years ago we really enjoyed it however this time it was totally different and what appeared to be a slice of fudge cake smashed up with some blueberries, strawberry and ice cream not what we expected. Service was great and we didn't have to wait long for our meals.

We normally come here quite often and the food is great. The start was good although scallops were rubbery but I ate them.

The steaks… now this is where it get bad. I ordered medium raw my wife ordered well done. Hers came out still running round the plate we sent it back 5 times before giving up and leaving.

We did offer to pay for start and drinks but the manager was so embarrassed she would only let us pay for the drink.

I will come back as this has been the only bad experience but it has knocked my confidence in the chef

First time here, fantastic experience. The ambiance was really nice, the food really tasty and well presented with a very nice choice. My wife and I both had steak, (sirloin & rib eye), both cooked exactly as we requested. Our friends had Moroccan lamb (very spicy but flavoursome) and burger (outstanding). Starters and desert also faultless. The young ladies serving us were delightful, perfect blend of professional, warm, friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend.

Such a lovely place to stay. The restaurant is very welcoming! Stayed here for the night as was in the area and it's such a amazing place. The food was so delicious and the staff were very friendly! 😀😀😀
