What a fantastic place to eat - a real surpise in a small seaside town.

We visited Criccieth for a last minute anniversary weekend getaway and had been looking for a place to get our tastebuds on some good quality asian food. Somewhere a little more special than a take away or run-of-the-mill Chinese restaurant. Honestly, we were unsure if we'd find it - after all we were in a small town that was 'outside of season' so many places simply weren't open.

Fortunately, in Mei's Fusion Food we found exactly what we were looking for.

After a warm welcome inside from the absolutely terrible weather, the owner and her associate sat us down and made sure we were comfortable. We hadn't booked, and the place was quite busy, but we were still made to feel perfectly welcome and were analysing the menu in no time.

The list of available dishes is a sensibly eclectic mix of asian cuisine that breaks the mould (in a good way) of even more well-known restaurants in bigger cities. On first read, we had many dishes to our taste to choose from, inclusing Vegetarian-friendly and a range of spice levels, so that even the most conservative diner would be satiated.

We chose the two Claypot dishes as our mains (Tau Eu Bak / Mabo Tofu) and had a side of salt & pepper frog's legs alongside (see photos).

There's simply no other way to describe them than Delicious. Well presented, tasty, served in good-but-not-overpowering portions and with a fantastic balance of ingredients in each dish. Kudos to the chef - she is doing a Stellar job.

The owner and her staff were absolutely lovely and made sure we were happy throughout, without the lingering uncomfortable feeling you get in some places.

Overall, the exceptional food, good vibes and friendly staff made for two very happy travellers, who will undoubtedly be paying a visit again if we are in the area - we strongly suggest you do to.

Best restaurant I’ve been to in Criccieth. Friendly staff who are proud to serve good food. Large menu with a wide selection of dishes. Reasonably priced as well. Very busy though so I would definitely recommend booking a table in advance.

I agree with the review below. We live locally, hardly ever have a takeaway but thought we would try it out again. It was awful. Reheated old chips like rubber, the only taste from the chicken curry was a mild hint of plastic, rice was stodgy. Binned it all. Proper need to up there game. The only Chinese in the village aswell. Never again.

Due to my previous business, and after eating many Chinese takeaways up and down the country & in and around London for many years. I never thought I would find a good quality takeaway out side London that could compete with London's high quality food. I was wrong. This is far the best Chinese takeaway I've had for a very long time, hands down! Definitely the best in North Wales. A very friendly family business too. Top marks.

Seriously how much oil?
There was more oil than there was sauce. Very unenjoyable. After draining the oil out the food tasted foul anyway complete waste of money.
