The Hardwick

Had Sunday lunch. First time since Covid. Staff welcoming. The young servers were exceptionally polite and efficient. One older server a little abrupt. Food was good though not as good as in the past. Everything was placed on the plate except the cauliflower cheese which was the only extra vegetable. Definitely overpriced, bread and coffee should be included. Having said all that, it was a pleasant experience.

If we were looking for places to eat on the fly then we would have most certainly drove past this place. From the outside it’s not a pretty sight. It actually looks fairly neglected.

Once inside the decor improves and you can see where some money has been thrown at it. Although it’s still far from perfect. The toilets both male and female were not decorated in good taste and look rather shabby.

The food. Thankfully this is what we came for and it was generally fab. Good portion sizes and so tasty. Service was a little lack lustre with the server not having much knowledge about what exactly was being served up.

I believe this place has rather big aspirations for a TV chef owner, but as a package it fails to meet the mark and most definitely isn’t Michelin if that’s what youre expecting (many think it is!).

For a slightly upmarket gastropub with rooms, it’s a decent but fairly expensive option.

Stayed there the night before my nice wedding in room 5. Stay clear of this place. Could not sleep. Door outside room makes huge bang. Complained to staff they could not be bothered sed put soft closure on it they cud not be bothered...we can't help what guests do. Did not want to know. Had a bath where no plug worked. So hot in room ..1 window could not be opened more than 6 ins. Had a cooler unit which did not work. For £165 expect a comfy room bed was ok, staff could not care stay clear

Superb Sunday lunch and drinks. A wide ranging menu of food and drink, with particularly good non-alcohlic cocktails and a great wine selection. Our starter and main courses were incredibly flavoursome, beautifully presented and served by efficient and friendly staff. Leave a little room for their knockout desserts!

Could not be more delighted with Sunday lunch at The Hardwick. It has the perfect balance between having standards without being too stuffy (was particularly pleased that you could have a Yorkshire pudding with the chicken dinner, though I went for beef) and the food was amazing. Not massively Instagrammable (no loss, imho), but the flavours and textures were superb. If you only have one thing off the menu, have the Lemon Crunch.

Over priced and underwhelmed!
Had the burger it was salty, over cooked and not very warm,spoke to the waiter who said he would get a fresh one, a couple of minutes later he came out with the same burger that they had obviously re heated ! Needless to say it was not edible at this point.
Very disappointed ☹️ especially when they tried to charge us for it, it was however removed from the bill when mentioned.

I took my mother here to celebrate her 80th birthday. We stayed the night and enjoyed an evening of wining and dining. Although not blown away by the food it was still of a high standard and enjoyable.

We had THE best experience. Food is absolutely delicious. The menu is delightful. The flavours! Excellent wine selection. Fabulous service. Gorgeous breakfast. Hot hot coffee which is a must! My only problem was that we had to leave because we wanted to stay another night it was so good! Looking forward to returning. Ps. Everyone must try the Big H cocktail 🍸
