Nunhead Roofing

I've just had the roof of a rental property that I own in Stepney Green replaced by Mark and his team at Nunhead Roofing. Mark was great to work with and certainly someone I felt I could trust to get on with the work and deliver it to a high standard. In fact after our initial meeting when he conducted his survey of the roof I didn't have to go back to the property as he managed the entire process. He arranged the scaffolding and permits, liaised with the tenants for access and then provided me daily updates and photos once the work was underway. The work was completed to a very high standard and with the help of some good weather a week ahead of the schedule. I am very happy with all aspects of the job, from the competitive quote to the quick delivery and have no reservations in recommending Nunhead Roofing.

Mark at Nunhead Roofing was very punctual. While we did not have a roofing issue we had a window leaking issue. Mark was very accommodating in coming over to have a look at the problem. He was able to fully diagnose the issue and he completed a stopgap measure to halt the leakage. He was very knowledgeable and told us exactly what our builder needed to do for the permanent fix. I can highly recommend him if you have any roofing issues.

Nunhead Roofing replaced my entire roof: dormers, slates, roof membrane, valleys and flashings. The lead for the dormer roof and sides was also replaced. All the work was completed to a very high standard, and we are extremely happy with the results. Photos were provided during all stages of the work, so we had good visibility.

Mark was the only roofer who put the increasingly relevant insulation requirements at the forefront of his work, by quoting not only for PIR foam insulation in between the rafters (which he correctly assumed would be missing from my old roof) but also additional insulation called TLX Gold which acts as a quilt and decreases substantially the U Value of the roof. As a result, the work exceeded building regulations and improved the EPC rating on my property.

Mark also suggested that the old insulation of my front dormer roof be checked and redone. It turned out that the existing dormer roof was not insulated nor ventilated properly, resulting in a lot of condensation in between the flat roof rafters. This was addressed by Nunhead Roofing to a high standard.

Since the roof has been replaced, there has been a great improvement in the house insulation.
The Guarantees and Building Compliance Certificates were supplied promptly upon completion. The insurance backed guarantee followed up after a few weeks.

The contract was for replacement of a pitched roof covering a pair of large Victorian semi-detached houses. Scaffolding was arranged by Mark and included in the contract.

Removal of slates revealed problems with the brickwork. Mark investigated the full extent of the problems, documenting with photos. Mindful of our need to cap costs he estimated for this work quickly. Within a week of the start of work we had agreed a revised contract including replacement of some rafters, repair of the partition wall and 6 chimney stacks and new gutters. This quick and thorough action gave us confidence and peace of mind that no further work would be needed. This proved to be correct.

Before removal of the roof Mark taped protective covering around the scaffolding to minimise the mess caused as slates were removed. During the work we were in constant communication, ensuring that no problems arose. The original contract estimated 6 weeks for completion and even with the extra work completion was within 8 weeks.

The finished roof looks great. We thoroughly recommend Nunhead roofing, both for the method of work and the result.
