I live out of the country and was dealing with a leaking balcony, door frame and livid tenants. Jack went out of his way to help—even when he knew I was contacting other contractors for comparable quotes. It really has been a pleasure, and I absolutely love my new doors and balcony!
I would recommend them to anyone who wants work finished to a high standard, trustworthiness and integrity. Thank you Eaton Roofing!
After some research, I called Jack and his team at ER to come and take a look. They were extremely knowledgeable and suggested a good solution.
At first, they fixed most of the problem - but not all.The last patch was extremely tricky to solve, but they came back 3 times at no extra charge, until they finally found the cause and dealt with it. ER were completely clear throughout that they would keep going until the leak was fixed - which I really appreciated.
They were nice, professional and they persevered! I recommend them.
We have used ER Group for a very extensive job so have had a lot of experience of working with them and due to their professionalism and approach I am very glad that we chose to use ER Group for our job.
By way of explanation (so that those reading this can understand why I am recommending them), we had a small leak in our flat roof which forms a terrace. I initially called a number of roofing companies that are well rated on here to get quotes. The first couple simply quoted based on google images. They were not willing to come out to see the issues and just insisted that we needed a whole new roof. Jack on the other hand happily came to see us to advise on options. On looking he identified a couple of issues, our bifold doors were not properly sealed so could be the source of the water getting in and the roof itself was an old asphalt roof that wasn’t in great condition. Jack didn’t try to get us to spend a tonne of money and suggested in the first instance they could do the cheap job of sealing the door properly, see if that did the trick and then we could reassess. The thing I appreciated most about this approach was that Jack was straight with us about options, explained everything in detail and didn’t try to push us to do the most expensive job.
Ultimately we did however need to do the full resurfacing job so a few months later we had ER Group back to take up the old asphalt and replace it with a new GRP roof. That unfortunately is when our saga began (though I should immediately point out none of this was ER Group’s fault).
When the asphalt was taken up we unfortunately discovered that the steel and concrete structure underneath was in terrible condition and was structurally unsound. This was rather surprising since we had a structural engineer look at it 3 years earlier and confirm it could take “tonnes and tonnes of weight” – so had then piled it up with a few thousand kilos of plants etc.
Many roofers would probably at this point have either covered it up or told us to call them once we had a way forward. Jack though was beyond helpful. He initially sorted out a structural engineer to report on the roof and propose solutions, he helped with debating the issues with the previous structural engineer and he helped with getting a third opinion so that we could progress a claim for the previous negligent advice. All of this help was just happily provided and hasn’t appeared on an invoice. ER Group then did everything to remove the old structure from above (without damaging the new kitchen and bathroom in the rooms beneath) and then effectively rebuilt the back half of our house so that we once again have a beautiful 20sqm terrace (but this time that isn’t in danger of collapsing and killing someone).
As regards cost, Jack was very clear on costs throughout. He thought about everything we would need to be able to quote the worst case so we wouldn’t be hit with increasing costs. He then didn’t need to be asked to take stuff off the ultimate invoice that hadn’t been required. When we got the first quotes ER Group were actually the cheapest but if you do find cheaper I still wouldn’t go with another option because there is a huge value to knowing that they will help if something goes wrong and won’t turn round half way through saying the bill is going up.
Overall, we have therefore had a lot of experience of ER Group’s work and I can honestly say that this stressful period in our lives would have been so much worse if we hadn’t been working with ER Group for the repairs.
ER Group have done a superb, comprehensive and meticulous job on all these fronts: repairing and repainting the garage doors, fully redecorating and rewiring the interior of the garage, replacing and updating all the garage roof timbers, weatherproofing the garage roof and beautiful new leadwork to both the garage roof and the front bay window.
Moreover, they have done this all with great diligence, attention to detail and unfailing courtesy, absolutely minimizing any disruption to us and making them a pleasure to deal with throughout – I would heartily recommend!
