BARL won’t come out to give a quote unless you pay the £180.00 fee for this service upfront. They trade off some very good reviews so I thought the cost could be worth it. The owner of BARL said I needed a brand new roof, somehow he was able to see this from ground level and without inspecting the attic space where there is easy access, the visit was 15 minutes. The A4 templated quote sent subsequently quoted £3,000 for scaffolding and in excess of £39,000 for the roof (this is a Victorian terraced property). They wouldn’t entertain any alternative to a new roof.

I got the work done in the end to a very high standard by a different roofing company, they said there was nothing wrong with the existing roof. I am so pleased with their work and it cost me 1/5th of the quote from BARL. Even the scaffolding was a fraction of the price at £800.

BARL have written below their standard response to this review. They say I offered close to 50% reduction when this simply isn't true. And Covid should not have stopped them from inspecting the roof space instead of making an inaccurate judgment from the ground, that is simply unprofessional.

I was very pleased with the repairs done to our flat roof. Unlike several other roofing companies I contacted, BARL gave a detailed, clear quote at a reasonable price. They carried out the work punctually and professionally on the agreed dates. They were easy to contact and responsive and always pleasant to deal with. They agreed to return to fix a minor issue and the whole experience convinced me that this is a trustworthy, decent company which carries out good quality work at fair prices. I would definitely use them again.

Our building ( 4 flats) has hired Barl & Co for several jobs over the past seven years, including a major roof repair and skylight installation, building repointing and downpipe work, major ground flat structural flood wall repair, and drain pipe installation and most recently stair repairs. Their work is professional, timely and of always good quality. Repairing a 100-year-old building is a challenge, but one that this company knows how to take on and do well.

Truly excellent! BARL completed extensive brickwork and roofing restoration of our Victorian terrace house. It was a pleasure having the work completed by their team of specialist craftsmen who David holds to the highest standards with his daily inspections and guidance. A fully professional experience from the initial visit through to completion, with everything done as committed.
We had some gutter issues following the torrential rains of recent weeks and contacted BARL. They responded very quickly, coming to inspect the following day and then resolving the issue a couple of days later. No delays, no fuss and everything sorted. Great after care experience, given that the original work was completed over a year ago.

David, Lee and team did a fantastic job on our roof terrace repair and replacement, completely clearing, inspecting and re-sealing with a liquid rubber membrane the existing felt roofing underneath the decking. They then replaced all the joists and wooden decking above to a very high standard.

As part of their work they also successfully addressed a long-term leak on our next door neighbour's roof terrace - carefully raising decking in the relevant area, cleaning, fixing holes and and applying a liquid rubber membrane to the relevant area, before reinstalling the existing decking to exactly how it was before.

At all times, the BARL team were professional, on-time, thoughtful about make the roof terrace look its best and be in good condition for the longer term.
