I called asking for a rough estimate of cost to replace a slate roof in for a 1930's semi in Exeter. Rather than asking questions to gather more information and help me, the woman on the line immediately started complaining that she didn't know where I was calling from, didn't know where the house was, and so couldn't possibly provide me with any information.
I told her I would be happy to answer any questions she had. When I told her I was based in Exeter, she then cattily remarked, "Exeter is a big place," but didn't bother asking where I was located.
I suspect this woman simply did not like me because I don't have a British accent and therefore sound foreign. Shame, as I would have been willing to bring them thousands of pounds in business to replace my roof if she had been polite.
I am surprised and disappointed by this level of poor customer service, and can only imagine the further issues I might encounter if I tried to work with this business!
