Do not send your child here. The new head teacher who started September 2017 is an awful disciplinarian and making the place extremely unhappy for the kids. It was a nice school up till now. His over authoritarian stance is causing lots of behaviour problems in the children and unhappiness. The school is deteriorating, I expect it will go into special measures.

This school is an example of how an educational establishment suffers under a profit-seeking-performance based regime. This school always had an excellent reputation especially for ‘non-mainstream’ students. Now they are no longer a ‘not-for-profit’ organisation and are part of an academy business model - the needs of the individual students are swept aside for the convenience of the head teachers targets and league tables. I am shocked how this school now treats its students and their families. I wouldn’t send a badly behaved dog to be trained here. Disgusted at their heavy handed approach. Avoid.

Before the new head teacher joined our school, it was actually getting better and everything was starting to get under control. But ever since he's joined I have never felt like a primary student in my life. There is no more fun trips Eg: The last trip I've been too was to the Warner Bros. Studio and that was it. Also he did not do a muffty day for Children In Need day and we only raised £300 and we normally raise higher than that. Plus for an awards assembly, which we normally have before a big term ends, he did not do much for it, us students were only given a tiny pack of smarties and a couple of certificates. Last year before he came there was big boxes of biscuits given to forms, loads of chocolates etc. I just don't seem to recognise Rye College anymore. The students have uncontrollable and disgusting behaviour and I've noticed there's a lot more bullying now and I feel that there should be more teachers observing the school grounds and the bus stop. Plus some of us have mock exams coming up and I just feel that the head's support is not enough.

My son started in Sept 2017 and left in March 2018, not the school that I viewed it's a totally different place under the new head. Bullying is a daily thing and teachers do nothing about it
