My mum was conned into purchasing a Motability vehicle which was not fit for purpose. She only had 1 stipulation for the vehicle and had to pay a sizeable deposit to ensure the vehicle came with this requirement. During the ordering process my mum's requirement was mentioned and discussed several times; the salesman even looked up the varying models of the vehicle on the system to ensure my mum received the correct model with her stipulated requirements; it came at a cost which my mum was willing to pay as it enabled her to continue with her independence (which is the essence of having a Motability vehicle).
On the day of collection all went well until we got the vehicle home and realised it did not have the function my mum required. When this was highlighted with Stoneacre they denied that the requirement was ever discussed and if she wanted the function in a new vehicle she would have to pay another £900 on top of £1000 she had already paid. They did not give us a print out of our purchase when we made the order so we had no evidence to prove we had requested the specific function - it is Stoneacre’s word against my mum's. During one phone conversation the manager actually laughed at my mum telling her the vehicle she got was the one she ordered.
After ignoring all correspondence Stoneacre lied to the company designated to fit the electric hoist in the boot of my mum's new vehicle telling them that the vehicle was cancelled and the hoist was no longer needed. They then employed a local company to fit the hoist instead.
There is more to this saga and Stoneacre’s lies and deceit but hopefully this belief account will act as a warning to those looking to do business with this dealership.
My mum now has to arrange for another vehicle and have it fitted with a new hoist again at cost to her, this whole experience has been traumatic and is still ongoing.
