The Orchard Retreat

We recently stayed at Orchard Retreat in Apple Tree Cottage and had a great time.

We’ve been coming every year for the last three years and find it the perfect place to escape….our kids love exploring the orchard, the facilities are excellent (even if the weather is typically British, there is a games room that makes the perfect space), Nick and Vicky are great hosts and v.welcoming, the local farm shop is a short walk with supplies and delicious food, there is local pub The Ring of Bells that does the best Sunday roast….all in all, its a great place to come and relax and I’d highly recommend.

The Orchard Retreat is truly special and idyllic. The yurts are beautiful with lovely furnishings. Throughout the site so much has been thought of to make a stay here incredible. I, along with the rest of our group did not want to leave on departure day. We had lots of fun creating our own pizzas on the first night and cooking them in the fantastic pizza oven. Then dinner at The Ring Of Bells the second night - great recommendation and just a 25minute stroll away. Faultless! The nights of endless chatter around the fire pit, laughter and beautiful surroundings. The complete still quiet of the night and then the sunrise with only the sound of the trees and birds to rouse you from slumber. Such luxurious bathrooms, all the provisions you could wish for in the kitchen and the marvellous outside shower and baths...I could go on and on...Have booked to stay again already. Thanks again to Vicky, Nick and family. In my hospitality career spanning some 20 years The Orchard Retreat is up there with the best for me and guest experience! Loved it!

Absolutely 5⭐️!!
Our weekend away was absolutely perfect in every way. We hired all three yurts, had the kitchen and toilet block hang out area to ourselves, hired the pizza oven, made use of the tubhouse, enjoyed the fire pit every night and booked yoga on the meadow under the oak tree.
Vicky & Nick had thought of everything. All facilities were spotless and beautifully put together.
We can’t wait to return next year!
Honestly, this place is idyllic. Don’t miss it, just book it!

My family spent the weekend at the orchard retreat and we had the most fantastic time. A walk along the mown paths of the meadow was pure joy and sums it up for me. Vic and Theo(?) have it just right. The facilities are spot on to have a relaxed time with nature and all the creature comforts you could want to feel refreshed and pampered.

What an amazing week we had at the Orchard Retreat! I cannot recommend this place highly enough, a beautiful setting, lovely welcoming family, and literally everything has been thought of. We are a family of five (age 8,6 and 1) and were nervous of a whole week in a yurt so booked 4 nights glamping and 3 in the cider barn. We didn’t want to leave the yurt, and that’s saying something. The outdoor shower set up is magical (you still have own indoor bathroom in kitchen block) communal areas have eveything you need, and even a disastrous attempt at the pizza oven (our fault) didn’t ruin it. Lovely campfire in the evening chatting to other families - the kids all made friends within first 5 minutes so were running free the entire week. The yurts are beautiful, as is the cider barn. We will definitely be back.

We have just returned from an absolutely fabulous 3 night stay in the Russet yurt and cannot recommend The Orchard Retreat highly enough - a little piece of holiday paradise with our 6, 4 and 1 year old children. Vicky, Nick and Maddy made us feel so welcome and relaxed from the moment we arrived (despite our 4 year old announcing our arrival by being car-sick in the courtyard!) and had even taken in (and put away!) a Sainsburys delivery that arrived before we did. The yurts are surprisingly spacious and very well set up - Vicky and Nick have honestly thought of everything (including some fantastic rechargeable lanterns). The girls quickly made “holiday friends” from the other yurts, and the whole site is just the perfect size and design to let them run around freely totally safe. The play area and treehouse are brilliantly designed and we could keep an eye on the kids from the veranda of the Facilities Lodge with a cold drink in hand. We LOVED the outdoor tubhouse - both the baths and the shower - but also appreciated each yurt having its own indoor shower and toilet in the Facilities Lodge - perfect combination. We hired the pizza oven on our first evening, which was great fun, and had an excellent meal at the Ring of Bells another evening (do book in advance as it is deservedly very popular!). The older two children cried about leaving and we will certainly be back! An extra thank you to Maddy for coming out to play with Charlotte before we left, she absolutely adored you! :)

Wonderful accommodation with real character and every possible amenity.
Beautiful surrounding countryside and a delight to be able to walk from the doorstep into the unspoilt fields and woodland. Vicky and NIck are most welcoming and friendly. They went above and beyond in organising aspects of my stay which made the few days very relaxing and special.
I highly recommend the Ring of Bells pub and the Farm shop and cafe, both practically on the doorstep.
The Orchard Retreat concept is unique and you will be guaranteed a genuine welcome and alot more

Had a lovely time at the Orchard Retreat, the hosts were extremely welcoming and made sure we had exactly what we needed.
The yurt was cosy and romantic and so comfortable.
Facilities were excellent and the beds were amazing! Definitely would stay again, for much longer next time.
