Katie’s pretty and beautifully clean cottage has everything you need for a get away from it all break. She has thought of everything to make your stay perfect. The garden is a wonderful surprise with gorgeous views and seating area. Winster is a great base for walking - Katie has a library of books and maps. The village has a brilliant community owned, well stocked shop run by the friendliest people. The Miner’s Standard public house has a good menu and is run by smiley, welcoming staff offering a fabulous atmosphere. We are looking forward to returning in the future and would strongly recommend!

An absolute pleasure to stay in this beautiful cottage, in an idyllic village! The cottage was spotlessly clean and cosy and had every home comfort. It was lovely to just relax in the comfort of this pretty home. The secret garden was just lovely, we sat out there watching the stars in the evening and then had breakfast out there the next morning, with open views of the countryside. Communication with Katie was easy and and prompt, making our trip stress free. The village is lovely and everyone we met so friendly. We were sad to leave and can't wait to return. I wouldn't hesitate in booking, I'm sure anyone who has stayed will already be planning their next visit.

Would thoroughly recommend staying at Katie’s beautiful cottage. Situated in an idyllic, Peak District village, the cottage is the perfect base for any adventure into the peaks. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t in our favour, but the characterful & cosy cottage more than made up for it! Katie’s communication & guidance throughout were fantastic. We will be recommending to friends & family, and hope to personally stay again in the not too distant future!!

We visited as a couple. This is a beautiful little cottage in a very peaceful village. The decor is so homely and warm. The fire in the living room makes the perfect night in and the kitchen has everything you could need for a few days away. The bedroom is lovely and the bed/mattress is very comfy. The cottage was beautifully clean.

In terms of location, for us it was perfect. Although in a village, it felt very remote and was so quiet with miles and miles to walk at your fingertips (or feet) with stunning views. There are also some lovely little local pubs which we didn’t get chance to visit this time, but we did venture into Matlock which is only a 15 minute drive away.

Katie the host gives plenty of information on parking, which although can be difficult to find it is not too far away but I am not sure how this would be in busier periods in the summer.

Katie was absolutely fab as a host. She allowed me to pay extra to check in early to make the most of our time and was easily contactable for any questions. She also left clear instructions regarding checking in and out and there is a very useful information folder inside the cottage.

We really enjoyed our stay in this pretty, cosy cottage, everything was lovely and the king size bed was sooo comfortable, powerful shower. The cottage is full of interesting and quirky items sourced locally and Katie provided everything we could need for a comfortable stay. It was spotlessly clean and communication with Katie was fast and easy. The secret garden is down at the end of the path and round by a summer house, there are sheep and chickens in the field behind, such a joy to watch. Winster is a very pretty village, make sure you bring comfortable walking shoes, the alleyways running across the village are a delight to explore. The Bowling Green pub was closed during the week so we walked up to the Miners Standard and enjoyed a few drinks in there, we loved their music and it was like stepping back into the 1970's, everyone was so friendly and as the internet signal was limited no one was looking at their phones, amazing! We would definitely recommend and would stay again if we were in the area again, thank you Katie x

What a perfect long weekend away in Lancaster Cottage. Thankyou Katie.
The cottage is a delight and the garden even more delightful.
We loved the cosiness of the cottage, the very comfy brass bed and after some decent long walks the shower was great too.

The secret garden is just beautiful and we sat out with a bottle of fizz as the Lionesses won their Final (Yayyyy!) and then went back out to the garden after dinner to sit with the remains of our wine and enjoy the peace and quiet.
Bliss.

On top of everything Katie is the most amazing host - thankyou!

And like everyone else, we can't wait to return. We've found our perfect weekender.

Had the most magical autumnal break in this cosy and warm little cottage. The bedroom and the bed is a joy and we slept so well as it’s so very quiet in the cottage. Winster is lovely, like stepping back in time. Plenty to do around the cottage and in the area - it really is stunning. Monsal Trail is a lovely ride on the bikes or for a walk, obviously Bakewell for the tart, Buxton for the stunning park and baths and Chatsworth too. Walk over to Birchover, the Druids Inn was wonderful and the landlady is so friendly. We spent a wet afternoon drinking delicious red wine and playing board games and chatting to the staff. Autumn perfection, we will be back to Katie’s cottage - our new favourite bolthole.
