Beware unclean and unhygienic during the COVID pandemic! This review is based on our recent stay at Bixley bungalow in the last week of August 2020. A place that has definitely seen better days, I'm sure 3 years ago it may have been a well maintained, clean and well decorated place to stay. Our experience featured dirty stained carpets, sofas, uncomfortable old mattresses, tired unclean bed heads, and most surfaces throughout unclean and dusty. The bathrooms were also not cleaned properly and the shower cubicle quite awful. What's worse is that these are the conditions of the property during a pandemic of Coronavirus! This was not by any means cheap accommodation at £1000, for 6 nights, the cleanliness standards was quite appalling! I spent the first part of my holiday cleaning, to make it hygienic, particularly as we had our two young children with us. After contacting the owner, who very arrogantly, only proceeded to point fingers at us for not contacting him at the beginning of our stay, and telling us that he lives in London, so he can not check the standards of cleaning before our arrival! This is a very poor, substandard set-up. We feel as though we and possibly many others have been taken advantage of in this 'staycation' period, this is just a profit making business, and no real care or personal touches to your stay made. I would AVOID, until a renovation has been made here! The only positive was the large tranquil garden and beautiful location in the woods.
