We stayed here during a blustery January in 2014, one of those years when inclement weather meant trees down and high winds. Despite chaos all about, with no electric for most of our stay, we had quite an adventure. We made sure that we had plenty of wood and coal and candles, and cooked on the stove, got heat from the stove and read books and relaxed.
Rola cottages are beautiful, with amazing vistas across the bay and into the foothills of Snowdonia. The beach below is only a short stroll away, but erosion means the cliff can be difficult to get down to (at least the most direct route).
Great for dogs.
A recommended holiday for quiet relaxation when you want to get away from the 21st century and lead a more simple life.

A hidden gem in the Snowdonia national park. Just south of the village of Llwyngwril off the coast road on the right. We have stayed in Yr Olaf a number of times and recently in Llonydd. A beautiful location with great views of the sea, you can feel very at home in the beautiful and well equipped cottages. Easy access to the local town of Tywyn for your shopping, there's a fair sized CO OP, Spar and a handful of restaurants and takeaways.
The real beauty of this part of Wales is in the mountains, valleys and beaches. Some of the wildest and most scenic landscape in the UK that would take a lifetime to fully explore. There's also the 'Mach loop' where you will have an opportunity to see fast jets training. Some aircraft fly right by the cottages! A good day out on Cad east or west can produce some excellent photos. After a full day out and about it's great to come back to the cottage. The facilities are clean and well maintained and the beds are comfortable. We find it hard to tear ourselves away from this place, we're already thinking about our next visit.

Great views and location. We had a very relaxing time. Good facilities at the cottage and a short drive to Towyn and other towns. Beautiful area.
Location shows on maps as being Rola but postcode is one for the area and will mislead satnav.
Access to beach is not easy and some would find steep. Definitely for the able bodied.

Very comfortable and spacious cottage with a spectacular setting overlooking Cardigan Bay. Great value stay too - very reasonable rental rates even if staying less than a week. Quick and convenient road connection to Dolgellau and Barmouth and a perfect base for many different walks. The spectacular Cader Idris mountain is easily accessible in a 1-day trip from here. Owners very helpful and informative.

Traditional well equipped Welsh cottage in a beautiful location on the coast looking out to sea, and over the mountains. Sunsets are amazing!
