Overall the stay in Apartment 1 of the Staines Angel Apartments was fantastic. But there were some issues....we will start with the positives
Pros It's very centrally located! (this is also a con. see below) Close to shops, restaurants, easy walk to the train station and about a 45 min ride into London. Easy to get around, close grocery made it nice
Parking is readily available, but costs up to 12 pounds a day. If you do rent the apartment park in the Staines Two Rivers shopping center and walk down tilly rd into the high street. it's close.
It's BIG by European standards. The apartment is large and airy and was amazing for my family of 5. Plenty of room for the kids to roam and a good variety of tv and programming. Big refrigerator. Nice kitchen. 3 bedrooms with a King Bed, Queen bed and double bed.
It has a large bath and a bathtub. lots and lots of hot water.
A washing machine in the apartment. Enough said.
Keyless entry is nice when you're traveling, and the process to enter the apt is easy.
Now to the cons.... It's noisy. ESPECIALLY on Friday and sat nights. You are literally right over a pub. It's louder in the king room and quietest in the full room but still noisy. You can hear music until 130 am and the people outside are smoking and loud. We used a white noise app on our phone and were ok, but if you are noise sensitive it's not ideal. During the week it's quieter and the pub closes at 11 or so, but it's still not quiet. We had a random reveler push our intercom button at 1 am and that was annoying (I think those should be disabled)
You're literally in the middle of the "high street" shopping district. You've got people about all day and all night. It's nice for proximity, but it's strange walking through the mall with your luggage!
People smoke outside and it comes into the apartment. I thought it smelled like someone was smoking in the apartment, but it was the people outside. Its only bad at night, but you can smell it.
The furniture is not sturdy and the couch in the living room is broken. One arm (nearest the wall) was not even attached. The arm nearest the door is completely caved in, which is actually nice because the remote never gets lost!
There is no clothes dryer (to accompany the washer) in the apartment, so you have to hang your laundry on the heated rack in the bathroom.
The HUGE stacks of laundry right in the interior door taking up all the foyer space and making it hard to get in. This is not just left behind by the cleaning people, but stored here. It got BIGGER in the 7 days I stayed here. It takes up a lot of space in a very narrow passage.
The apartment wasn't overly clean when we got there. There was standing water in the tub (that didn't look clean) and there were several dirty dishes in the sink. Again, not a deal breaker, but something that should be addressed.
Overall it was a great stay and for what it is, I would stay there again!
