What a fabulous buying experience! :) I can't thank Paul and his colleagues enough for their fabulous help in my buying a beautiful pair of Loake 1880 Export Grade shoes and matching belt for my daughter's wedding in May.

The professionalism of Paul and his colleagues and unrushed, classy atmosphere made this buying experience an absolutely first class one.

Quite simply the best service I have ever experienced.
See you again guys!

Thanks again! A+++ HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Loake’s Chester was recommended to me by my brother. He put me in contact with Paul, the manager. My experience was truly enjoyable. From the first moment Paul and his colleague Alex were attentive to me and my girlfriend. With coffee, beer or wine on arrival, this set the precedent for a perfect afternoon of shoe shopping. Paul gave me the full background on the history of the brand along with the process of making shoes. He gave me some bespoke advice around a suit I am wearing to a wedding, would highly recommend Loake in Chester and Paul was the man. Will certainly be back.

Exceptional customer service ! Ordered a pair of shoes and a belt from the lads as they didn’t have my size in stock , they sourced them for me there and then and were delivered to the shop within a couple of days unfortunately the wrong colour belt turned up but again nothing was too much trouble ,sourced what I needed and got it delivered to home FOC in less than 24 hours with a lovely handwritten note thanking me for supporting their business. Highly recommended I haven't experienced this level of customer service for a long time, thank you Paul and Alex it was an absolute pleasure .

I visited the Loake shop in Chester to buy a new pair of shoes for my brother’s wedding on the back of a recommendation from Patrick at Crichton Bespoke. I was delighted with the service I received and the shoes I bought with Paul taking real care and time to support me with my choice.

The shoes were perfect, but whilst waiting for the bride, I noticed a stitch had come away. It didn’t spoil the day but the following one I called back, a little grumpy, with the shoes to explain. Paul wasn’t in that day but one of his colleagues empathized and assured me that he would call me as soon as he was back in.

He did, and without recourse, told me he’d ordered a new pair and would let me know when they arrived. Despite it not really being his fault, but a product quality issue, he was genuinely apologetic. The shoes arrived a couple of days later and I called in again to collect.

It got me thinking, if I’d bought online, would I have had this experience? An local expert help me with my choice? A problem quickly and easily resolved? The ability to support a small business in my home City? No, I wouldn’t, but I do know where I’m buying my next pair of shoes from! See you soon Paul.

I wanted a good quality pair of shoes so took the plunge and went to Loakes Chester, found the pair I wanted and asked for them in a size 10, I got told I wouldn’t be a size 10 as there shoes are different and don’t work on that basis i’e if you bought a shirt size large then depending on the shop then the shirt could be a medium or small, I found this remark to be strange but never the less, so they measured my feet and told me I’m a size 8, I tried them on and said they where to tight, they said “they will stretch”? I took home and I’ve worn them once I was in agony after an hour, I then took them back to the shop were I was told i can’t exchange them because I’ve said that I have worn them??? but how do they stretch to your feet if you don’t wear them?
The manager Paul had bad attitude from minute I spoke to him using the broken record technique and not letting me speak, he said “I’ve sacked the man who sold you the shoes because couldn’t do his job properly” but Paul thinks it’s ok not to sort my shoes out after telling me he is aware of there mistake and just offered to stretch them? well it made no difference.
I don’t understand why you measured my feet in the first place ? I’ve bought size 10 in many shops and always been happy. I think you shouldn’t measure peoples feet and then say u take no liability for it if they don’t fit you properly.
This has left me with a bad experience and a £200 pair of shoes that I can’t wear, total waste of money and time, it’s so unprofessional it’s unbelievable! This is the second time that I’ve put this review up and it’s been deleted ? No apology or any effort to resolve and just delete reviews as they don’t want people to know the truth about store manager Paul £200 wasted can’t believe how unprofessional this store is.

Today we've been into Loake in Chester to buy some shoe polish and some replacement laces for a pair of Loake boots. The welcome we received from Paul and the team was as always very friendly. I cannot big up enough the customer service we receive every time we shop there.
