Chapter Lewisham is a great place for students of Goldsmiths College, and Greenwich University. The halls are clean and reception is 24/7. Most of
the staff are very courteous and friendly. You can get either a shared or private room. They call them suites but the private rooms are really just that - a room with an attached bathroom and a kitchenette. Still, it’s ideal for one person. The top floors give great views of Canary Wharf, which was a major highlight in choosing this place (please see the photos). Note though that Lewisham is not the safest of neighbourhoods but it’s not crazy either. The ASDA and the Lewisham stations are minutes walk from Chapter, making this a very convenient location. The common areas are air conditioned and heated - depending on the weather - and the gym is a great addition. All in all a great place. I enjoyed my time here.

Dropped my daughter off here. Student common area and her room were very clean and well maintained. Handy ASDA just across the road.

İt is not as good as its price. I have stayed there for a few weeks. İt was not clean. The kitchen wasn't hygienic. There was always noise from outside.

This is a horrible place to live if you're a student. Shoddy living quarters that are cheaply built, with things like fridges not closing properly or things breaking constantly, shoddy internet if you're not wired in via cable, and staff that do not care about any of your problems. Have an issue that only staff can help with? Prepare to get looped around by multiple different staff members for days on end just to be told they can't help you. Staff will also just enter your room, uninvited with no prompts or almost any warning at all, this happened to me when i was in bed sleeping during the day and was extremely distressful. Messaged them about it and was told "well we knocked" Though they did so while i was sleeping and never called, texted or emailed ahead of time at all. Do yourself a favour and find a better student accommodation to stay at.

Chapter residents/students have anti social behaviour and anti-aggression that has no consideration for the community around them. The students make noise every night and play music at unsocial hours. The security onsite doesn't enforce or inform the student that noise levels should be lowed at certain times. Chapter is poor organization that need to do better for the community and be implement rules regarding noise levels, anti social behaviour and consideration for others.

I have attached a photo below with noise levels going on from 10pm till the early hours of the morning.

Please note most people living in this area have work and young children who can't sleep due to the noise level. It's causing broken sleeping and disturbing the other neighbour residents.

The place is clean, pretty and all, but it’s way too hot in the rooms. It feels like you are suffocating. I know it’s winter right now but it’s way too much. Second thing, too much employees come in the residence unannounced. This is disrespectful and scared me off. I genuinely didn’t felt safe because I knew they had the keys and could enter whenever they wanted like this.Third thing is that you should teach your staff courtesy, warmness, and customer service. The lady at the entrance was rude for no reason and left us waiting with a lot of luggages outside for a while even though we were making signs that we were new in the place. We didn’t know the place and she just assume we already knew the rules and should have the keys. It’s unfortunate because the residence is as expected and cute but if your staff is rude it leaves a really bad first impression and general as well. I wouldn’t feel comfortable asking for help neither.

Chapter Lewisham is a generally good student accommodation with a couple of unfortunate issues that may deter some people depending on their criteria (discussed at the end).

The location is excellent; nearby ASDA, 5 min walk to Lewisham high street and 2 minute walk to the DLR and Overground. Greenwich park and Hilly Fields are both wonderful green spaces about 15 minutes walk away each. The area around Chapter is well lit and developed and that area of Lewisham never felt unsafe.

The staff during my stay were all very friendly and helpful from every day issues to COVID support and that extends to maintenance and cleaning staff as well as those on the front desk.

The building amenities spent some time closed due to COVID however the outdoor area was pleasant and caught the sun, though the road noise can be a bit loud at busy times. The gym is also well equipped and rarely busy. The study area is also an excellent place to work with a small coffee area and comfortable and ample seating.

The rooms were clean on arrival (I was in Bronze Studio) and I found had plenty of storage (there's a lot of room under the bed as well as on the shelves in pictures) and thoughtful design for small things like plug and light locations. In my studio type, I would warn that the kitchen is very limited for counter space and I'd suggest a fold out table or other surface if you want ample room to chop and prep anything beyond the very basics.

The bathroom had plenty of room for toiletries and the shower is high quality with responsive temperature controls and good water pressure.

Cons:
1. Chapter Lewisham is located right next to two overground lines, one of which is very loud even with windows closed and can be loud and continuous enough that keeping your windows open can make working in your room very difficult. They do stop for a few hours overnight but they run all day and into the evening. I found that I got more used to it with time, but it never stopped being frustrating and a bit disruptive.

2. Mileage may vary with this as I was on a south facing and higher floor, but the heat in the rooms during hot summer days is really unpleasant. I would argue that at the very least the upper floors need some form of air conditioning because even with fans, days over 25 degrees Celsius were nearly unbearable and not at all comfortable to live in. Its these conditions that ultimately make Chapter only 3 stars because I couldn't recommend that particular period to anyone. Its worth noting that due to COVID restrictions, I spent more time during the day in that room than I might have otherwise, but for the price of the rooms I think they should be comfortable year round.

Overall, Chapter Lewisham does almost everything very well and its unfortunate that two quite major issues detract from an otherwise pleasant accommodation.
