The staff is really really helpful! If there's any problem in the room, they get everything sorted in very less time! One of guys was soo helpful that he even helped me move my luggage to my room when I arrived. I'm soo thankful to him! The only problem is with the
restrictions! I have self isolated because I come from a non exempt country and I don't have a bank card, its super difficult for me to do anything. My neck hurts and I can't get a pillow, they should do a temperature check or something and let guests come in, I could at least ask a friend to get it for me. The isolation is crazy, its my 3rd day and I feel very low and depressed really! Its terrible to live alone in a new city with no one on the floor( at least I've not seen anyone) and no one to come over too! Its genuinely depressing for me, I don't have basic things like a pillow. My head hurts because of it but I can't get medicines too. They should let guests in, really! I agree its because of the safety measures but like they could do a temperature check and stuff at the entry!
At least students wouldn't feel terrible like I am feeling rn! No pillow, no towels, not many essentials! And I got admission last moment,
I couldn't even get a forex card!

The weekend/evening security at the reception is always in such a horrible mood and never at all accommodating. I’ve lived here for almost a year now and always avoided asking him for anything unless necessary. You’re just gonna get yelled at either ways. Never a good experience With the female staff

Expensive, small, lack of storage space compared to other accommodations. But people here are really nice, I love Sam, she is the best receptionist.

Pathetic experience! I can’t wait for my one year tenancy to get over. The reception staff (except Shaquille) is extremely rude and have no sense behind their logics. Kindly avoid.

Very unsatisfied. There is a serious lack of professional standard in the reception. It is unpleasant to speak to some of the receptionists, receiving impolite responses and attitude by an enquiry or picking up a package. Some are not looking to help at all. I will be making a formal complaint.

Totally agree with this guys statement: The weekend/evening security at the reception is always in such a horrible mood and never at all accommodating. I’ve lived here for almost a year now and always avoided asking him for anything unless necessary. You’re just gonna get yelled at either ways. Never a good experience with that big guy.

The room has a lot of faults all the time ( sink detaching, lights stops working, toilet not flushing) and the air quality is terrible in both the room and the hallways.

UPDATE - I still have not been contacted by Chapter Aldgate and it has been over a month since my review.

My partner and I recently stayed at Chapter Aldgate for a total of 13 nights. My partner was finishing a barber course in Farringdon and I joined him after he had been staying there for 3 nights. Over the last 6 months we have been back and forth to London as my partner attempted to complete his course, but with lockdowns and the course repeatedly being put on hold it has been very difficult. That being said, we have stayed in many different areas, hotels, privately owned properties and air bnbs over the course of his studies. With only 2 weeks left of his course we booked Chapter Aldgate as it was within walking distance and had a kitchen. We lost a lot over the pandemic and used all of our savings to book our stay which cost £900, the most expensive we have payed yet.

To say we were disappointed is an understatement. The windows leaked into the room every night, the toaster did not work, the utensils were dirty and a hair was found on the plate when we first took it out of the cupboard. Cleaning equipment was not provided so we went out and purchased toilet bleach, washing up liquid, sponges, a dustpan and brush etc. I cleaned everything again and when I went to cook my meal realised there was no knife to cut with, a scratched and flaking frying pan and no oven, only a microwave oven (the advertisement for the room stated that a kitchen and utensils were included, as well as an oven). After a few nights uncomfortable sleep with the sheet coming off every night as it was not deep enough for the mattress, I reported some of my issues to front desk.

I went to the front desk a total of three times with my issues, the first two times I was told to 'come back tomorrow' as there was 'nothing they could do'. On the third occasion I was assured new sheets and a toaster would be provided to which I informed the receptionist that I would be out all day and to please put them inside my room.

Two more days went by and I decided to contact Chapter Aldgate via Airbnb where I was then offered to move rooms if I replied to them by 8pm. I received this message when I returned at approx 10pm and explained that I had two nights left of my thirteen night stay anyway and would be out the following day and checking out the morning after.

The fact that for the whole weekend I was told to come back the following day by the security guard is appalling. My partner said he wasn't shown any facilities upon arrival, nor told where to put the bins, where to find cleaning equipment or anything like that. The same security guard who kept telling me to come back mis-gendered my boyfriend when he showed his ID claiming his ID was 'a girls ID' and was found asleep at the desk when my boyfriend went to complain about noise from a party in a neighbouring room.

Covid safety wise, to find utensils which had food residue on, a plate with a hair on and the very fact that a party was able to occur is absolutely horrifying. Alongside the ill-quipped and falsely advertised room as well as the lack of support from front desk staff, I am so disappointed.
