1- Rooms are small, dark and mouldy
My biggest issue was the humidity and mould that would form everywhere (shower, windows, underneath the paint, kitchen). There was only a small window that would open for few inches.
2- Utilities break down all the time
My sink, shower, ventilator, chairs etc. all broke down within a few months and it sometimes took them months to fix it. My bathroom ventilation took almost 2 months to get repaired. You have to inquire over and over again. Once you move in (and you paid), they seem to stop to care.
3- Room was dirty when I moved in
There was hair, dust and dirt quite everywhere when I moved in. I asked the personnel 3x to clean but my messages where ignored. Only after speaking in person with the manager, they were willing to do a little bit of cleaning.
4- The mattress was awful
The mattresses are super hard and feel very cheap. I often had back pain from it. The worst part though was the horrible smell (smelled terribly like smoke/chemicals).
5- Laundry situation is awful & expensive
There are only 2 (!) washers and dryers for the entire 2 buildings of X hundred students. I regularly had to wash during late night or early morning. Dryers don't really dry, so you have to do at least 2 cycles. So a full run costs 10 GBP each time (2-3x more than in colleges). And machines break down all the time.
6- Regularly no hot water
Hot water was running out all the time and I took many cold showers as a result. Often they wouldn't even know when it get fixed.
7- You are not taken seriously
I asked a dozen times to speak with staff - they often referred me to management (as they say they can't take decisions). Management completely ignores you -- there is no phone number, and emails remain unanswered, no matter what.
8- Refunds took 4-5months, my requests have been ignored
I was waiting over 4 months for a refund and I had to write >10 emails and call several times as I have been ignored. It was a nightmare to chase the money until it finally got paid back.
All in all the studio and service do not even remotely match the price of the studios. There are many much better alternatives on the market.
