Belsize Park Underground Station

Belsize Park Underground station is on the Northern Line towards Edware and it is the Black line on the Tube map. This station is marked as a zone 2 on the Tube system. It is considered to be one of if not the deepest Underground station in London. Upon exiting the train and taking a short flight of stairs to the level above the platform, you are warned about the steps to the street level which is 219 steps. Take the large elevators up which run like clockwork. The elevators lets people off on one side and lets those waiting to get in from the opposite side which eliminates congestion and unnecessary traffic and delays.

Immediately outside the station, you will find many shops and restaurants, including some small grocery stores, cafes, markets, pharmacy, and even a Starbucks.

This station is a well run tube station, with staff always on site if you need any help in getting down to the platform from the street.

A Leslie Green designed station (1907) with signature ox-blood faience exterior and featuring an unique enclosed forecourt.
A WWII deep-level public bomb shelter (completed 1942) is situated underneath the station.

This is a charming old station. Take the circular stairwell to get an idea of how deep it is.

Nice station in a classic style. I like the atmosphere of old metro stations.

There are 209 steps from platform to street level so, unless you’re fit, take one of the three lifts, strangely numbered two, three and four!
