Marks and Spencer

Very disappointed by a recent visit to this store.
I used to enjoy visits to the town centre store; this was usually to buy short sleeved shirts. They used to have an excellent display of sleeved and short sleeved shirts, in separate displays, and I was spoilt for choice.
Now that the town centre store is closed, I had to alternative but to visit Eclipse. I was very disappointed. I looked, at the display that seemed to offer what I wanted, but no single shirts, just double packs. I picked up something that appealed only to find that they were long sleeved. In the end, I found that I had a choice of one pack; containing 1 nice shirt, in pale grey, with white detailing, and a plain blue, which I didn't really want because I already have 2 plain blue shirts. Anyway, faced with Hobson's choice, I took it. It wasn't until I got home, and unpacked the 2 shirts, that I found they didn't have a breast pocket!!! Disaster! No mention of this on the packaging. No good to me at all, but they were out of the packaging so couldn't really take them back.
Another nail in the coffin of store sales, for me; in future, I shall either buy online, or try Next. Bad move M&S.

A very well thought out shop. Lovely Café, large food shop with ample amounts of clothes and shoes. Definitely one of my most regular places I visit. Highly recommend.

Excellent shop, better than Waitrose (by a long way) except with Tesco prices.

There are some ridiculous products (£40 half bottle of "special" gin!l) but easily avoided. Also few and far between.

Their vegan range is awesome, also.

This particular M&S has three BP Pulse charging stations situated within the car park for those who use electric vehicles.

Took my father Christmas shopping before taking him to his appointment at Kim's hospital.

The store is really nice, clean, tidy and the staff extremely helpful.

Decided to go and grab a coffee in the cafe.
Wasn't tempted by the extortionate priced crumb of cake which all cafes offer but thought we would go for a bowl of fries each as they would be a more filling snack.

Oh how very wrong we were!!!

The young girl popped them on the table with a cheery "2 portions of fries".

Now I know there not just fries but M&S fries but it would've been lovely to had more than a dozen soggy, limp, raw potato strips that was swimming in oil.

We did ask if this was it to be told that it was a portion of fries.

we couldn't be bothered to complaint and decided to put it down to experience not use the cafe again.

On a positive note, having a family member who uses a wheelchair it was very encouraging seeing an accessible toilet that was designed for left and right transfer.

So today my family attended the cafe today for the first time. The food and drinks were really good, however it was far too noisy which can be overwhelming…almost like a school cafeteria on speed. However, the shop itself is really tidy and staff are friendly.

It's an excellent store and I've found the staff in the cafe to be particularly good (Martin is amazing). However, I did have a poor customer experience on Dec 14th. I was approached by a staff member who suggested I get a store credit card for 20% off "in store today", and she'd put the discount through the till herself. After some further shopping, I realised this card would save me £20 so it would make sense to get one. But I couldn't find the staff member anywhere to take her up on the offer. So I signed up using my phone only to be told I'd have to wait up to 5 days on a decision. I asked another member of staff to find the person who suggested I sign up (I'll conceal her name). They eventually got hold of her by phone, not in person. And she said I can't have the discount today. So, no discount, a card I don't want in the future, and a lot of wasted time!! The staff should clearly advise customers that there can be a 5 day decision-making process, so getting a discount "today" is not guaranteed. I feel I was led into getting this store card without having all the information I should have had.

Great large size store so plenty of everything. I particularly like the self-checkout tils in the clothing section. Only downside to this store location is there is not sufficient parking.
