This has become the worst shopping experience I routinely have to endure. Never any baskets available on entering. Aisle signs not updated, and with items constantly being moved around makes some things impossible to find. Leaking roof. Majority of checkouts always closed even at busiest times. Long queues. Self checkout a constant nightmare. As the store will (eventually, hopefully) be knocked down as part of the Canada Water regeneration, it feels like customer service and experience has been completely abandoned.
Hire more staff! Open more checkouts! Is it really any more complicated than that?
A truly awful experience.

No longer a good shopping experience. Have been a regular shopper since it opened in the 80s.
Now it's 99% self service which indicates Tesco has put more people out of work and they are uncaring and making customers purchasing experience horrendous. The one place they should have the self service tills open is the area where they sell the lunch deals and newspapers yet they are never open. So to purchase a lottery ticket or return a item you will queue on average half an hour at the lottery and customer service kiosk where 2 assistant's are being given a far too big and varied workload.
Every where else in the store staff is also thin on the ground. Too much movement of products and less lines on offer. No delicatessen counter now or butchers or fishmongers. Tesco seems to be more interested in selling cushions and candles than selling food to people.
A company that is weekly rising prices but failing to serve the communities needs. How did they let this happen. Such a pity.

Its one of the biggest stores in the area. They have a lot of options in all departments, which is really great especially when you need specific things. The staff are also helpful and they have multiple checkout lanes which makes it a smooth checkout experience as well.

I use to enjoy shopping in Tesco's but it's gone downhill over the past couple of years. I can guarantee nine times out of ten I can go into that store in a good mood and come out stressed. Half the self-service tills don't work, I end up playing dodge the kids on scooters and if it's not scooters, children are kicking footballs around or have half the toys scattered around the floor.

I don't know about other Tesco stores, but this one gets a little bit worse every day.
In the last months they've been reducing the range of products: certain brands of jam, ice-cream, mayonnaise, bread, etc. are no longer available.
A couple of months ago, they removed the butcher counter, and in this area there are close to none independent butchers where to get good quality meat.
A month ago, they removed a large number of tills to install a self-service trolly area. I'm all in favour of self-service tills, but in small shops where you just buy a few items; this is a large Tesco Extra, where people come to do their weekly shopping, so they usually have full trolleys. So everything there is very slow, because there is no belt, so people have to manually move the items from the trolley, scan them, and put them in the bag. Basically, they are having the public doing the job they should be paying someone to do.
Today, was terrible. I've arrived a bit before 10:30, and there were absolutely no trolleys in the whole car park, or near the entrance. People were desperate trying to find one, chasing other people as they leave the shop and asking for the trolley. Somehow I managed to find a very old one, which was very hard to push (I think one of the wheels was broken).
By 11, when I wanted to pay and leave, there were only 3 open manned tills, so the queues were all along the aisles.
If they wanted to save some money and at the same time benefit their customers, they should have done something like Asda or Waitrose do, use the phones or some handheld device to scan the items as they go into the trolley, and then just stop by a self-service till just to scan the credit card.
Ah, and most supermarkets have at least a few chargers for EVs, but not this Tesco, despite having a huge parking lot.

I’ve been shopping here weekly for 12 years, until now.

1. There are never baskets available
2. The trolleys are vile and filthy
3. The staff are rude and unhelpful
4. The security act like they are protecting the Bank of England vault, yet speak and behave like every customer is a criminal.
5. The queues, getting out of this store takes longer than doing a weekly shop. The staff complain about it and all the customer complain it, yet the store management don’t seem to care.

Avoid this place.

Security Guard Coke, has excellent customer service. He is super friendly and makes me feel so, so welcome when I come to Tesco at Surrey Quays with his pleasant infectious smile. My children look forward to seeing "the kind man" as they call him. Thanks you for alway be a kind hearted human being and make us all feel better no matter what we are going through. Warm hugs!

This place is hectic! Whilst they do have a great range of quality goods they have one of the busiest Tesco’s I’ve ever been to. I also miss the design your own pizza counter. Please bring that back! Also never mind getting a lotto ticket at a bad hour - it’s always so damn busy! Just flat avoid busy times so you can enjoy your experience and not have to queue for 10 hours to check out!
