Tesco Express

Reviews are not reflective of the store, and the anger over having to download an app is shocking. This is perfect for quick checkout, no queues, and for those who would rather avoid social interaction. This system has been used in many other countries in Asia and around the world, and is rather common (hello amazon fresh). Its hurting no one, makes life easier for some, and those who don't want to get on with this or don't have the means to have other options too.

Nobody is forcing anyone to download an app, as everyone has the choice to step into the M&S opposite. Also nothing to do with working class or business people as mentioned in another review, suggesting that working class folk can't download an app and have no smartphone? Ridiculous. There are alternative shops everywhere! You don't have to go here :)

200% not friendly for elderly people!! Same system as Amazon Fresh. And the app is not the Clubcard app, so you need to download it at the door and register a card. Takes ages!
Go to the M&S in front and you'll save time, and keep humans with jobs

I don’t think it should be listed as a Tesco Express, as this store requires you to download (yet another) Tesco App to enter the store. Even if you have the Tesco Pay+ or Clubcard apps with your account and card details linked, you will *still* need your payment card to be able to register with the Tesco GetGo app, so if you don’t carry your cards with you you cannot enter. (Nor can you pay with Apple/Google Pay because there is no checkout). I don’t know why they can’t add the apps all in together and streamline them? Instructions for all the above are lacking upon entry anyway, they just have a QR code and someone at the entrance, it would be helpful for many people I am sure if they offered free Wifi, but I could not see any directions for this. My tip for directions is to walk across the street and go to the M&S.

Not very user friendly (considering I'm a UX Designer). The app was not available on my App Store (international) and I couldn't get in despite being a Clubcard member. I hope they can make it more accessible in the future.

Worst tesco on the earth, I get why they do this new process of paying for things but refusing any customers who just want to pay with their card just seems like some nonsense. Wasted my lunch walking down there and don't have the time to sign up for a clubcard

The experience is quick, simple, and smooth. There are easy setup instructions to get you started, but the staff at the entrance are helpful.

There are plenty of bags for you to buy if you don’t bring something along.

Tracking is impressive and I have repeatedly picked up and put back down items without any issue for billing.

The shop is a little smaller than most Tesco Express stores but it has everything I need.

This shop is so cool! I’ve never seen one before - I went during a slow period and the woman at the door helped me download the app and explained how it works. I couldn’t believe it. So nice to not have to queue and scan everything. I hope they catch on and we get some up north!

As magnificent the store may appear to the technology enabled, this is a step in the wrong direction. The sign up process, which I achieved after several minutes, caused every other visitor to abandon their trip. Tesco don't have the market share to achieve a captive audience, you should probably give up. I haven't even got started with the way this disadvantages the disabled and others.
