I took a heavily beaded gown in for repair after I had it cleaned at Timpsons resulting in numerous threads being broken on the dress and significant bead and sequin loss. I identified at least 17 areas, using safety pins for markers, in the shop with the assistant where beads needed replacing or tying off to prevent further loss. I was told that the lady repairing the dress would look over the entire dress to ensure it was secure so that I wouldn't lose any more heading. I was charged £65 for this which i thought was expensive but necessary as I wanted to wear my dress again. When I collected it over a week later I found 6 missed areas and had to return the dress to have the work completed. I had marked the 6 areas with pieces of white paper so they couldn't be missed. I had to leave work an hour early to catch them before closing (and again to collect it). When I did collect it today I noticed on getting home that a marker remained on the shoulder where an area AGAIN had been missed!!! As I cannot continue to leave work early and I need the dress for a wedding at weekend I have just had to repair the dress I paid £65 for a professional to do!! Extremely annoyed and will not be using their services again. They don't appear to take enough care over their work and clearly aren't bothered about customer service. If you value your garments do not have them repaired here!!!
Thank you for being so efficient! I appreciate your wholehearted efforts and dedication.
I have just had a 3 piece suit bought for me as best man at a wedding and the groom is a painful hipster so has bought suits that don’t fit people with normal bodies. I brought the suit in and within a few days the trousers had enough room for my calves, the waistcoat closed around my belly and the jacket let me lift my arms. All alterations are undetectable and finished beautifully. It really is a skilful repair.
The reviews about the ladies attitude being bad, I think are quite unfair. She is not a TGI Fridays greeter, she is a tailor, and a very good one. If you want sycophantic reverence speak to a therapist. I found her warm and professional.
I would highly recommend their services.
