Belly's Taste of Jamaica

Ordered from here on a few occasions as it is one of the few Caribbean shops in the old street area, but it has been dissapointing each time. Oxtail tasted like it came a tin, no flavour at all. Curry Goat was awfully bland and extremely salty at the same time (All you can taste is curry powder and black pepper! no presence of heat from scotch bonnet or fresh aroma from ingredients like thyme, doesn’t taste as though they even marinate the meat ) Rice & peas tasted like it was from the bottom of the pot, so dry and salty can’t taste no coconut or thyme. Sadly, this is not a good representation of AUTHENTIC Caribbean food with infused flavours, it taste very underwhelming and not worth the price, please save your money !

The food was slightly peppered and there was no need for it...There was no price list displayed just an empty menu board with no £ next to each item. The younger chubby rude lady 1 of 2 which serves can be very flippant with her manner and she needs to serve with a smile care and love with her expressions 😡 I've given a 2 star due to her...sorry 😕

I liked this place I only ordered a mac "n" cheese and woman who served me asked me whether I liked ackee and salt fish to which I said yes she then gave me the last one free of charge I was very thankful and told her this said replied your welcome. When I got home I tried it with the mac n cheese and I really enjoyed it so overall I will visit this place again.👍🏿

Food is so yummy. Friendly lady with the glasses (I don’t know what her name is) introduced me to the cheese beef patty and that was the start of a beautiful love story lol. Too bad the food prices are going up now due to the cost of living but this spot is definitely one of my favourites.

The most generous portion of jerk chicken, rice and vegetables. The chicken was good but the rice and veg surprised me with how tasty they were. The highlight is their homemade hot sauce, it has the most beautiful level of heat. You can buy a bottle to take away.

Don't mistake the understated service for rudeness. The love is poured into the food and not faux friendliness. I was given a box so big the sides nearly blew out, and a free coco bread on the side. If the dish you wanted ran out, it's a sign of high demand, and that they're not wasting kilos of perfectly good food at the end of each night like many places.

Got a delivery from here today found the prices very reasonable the coleslaw was great and the food Portions where really good. Unfortunately I found the jerk quite dry and not much flavour at all was 0 spice unfortunately

Visited for first time 3 weeks ago. Had incident with queuing. Delicious caribbean cuisine. Their portions good, service good

Ordered Curry chicken ( r + p ) with Mac and Cheese. Food was 1010, portion size was very generous and food just simply great. Flavourful and fresh.

Thank you for a great meal.

I will defo be calling again soon.
