I arrived at my 1330 appointment a few mins early. My car was taken to the ramps just after 1340, and I continued to wait for another 30 or so minutes. My car was returned to the car park and I was told my car was done and I needed to pay £70.
Noticing the lack of detail, I asked if the tracking was far out and if it needed much adjustment. The guy looked at the printout in his hand and said, "...yeah, the front was way out."
I paid and left, hoping to beat the friday traffic and have a good look at the printout when home. Before I got home, though, I noticed the car now steered slightly to the right when the steering wheel was straight.
When I got home, it didn't take long to see the rear right wheel's toe adjustment was highlighted red and out of the tolerances set out on the sheet ATS had given me.
Frustrated, I called ATS Fareham and asked why the rear right wheel was out of the tolerances set out, when I had just paid for it to be sorted. The guy replied that he didn't have a copy of the printout and that I would need to bring the car back the next day in the afternoon when it's quiet. Another 40 minute round trip.
The next day, in the afternoon, back at ATS Fareham, I presented the printout to a different guy at the reception who agreed the rear right wheel wasn't set correctly.
He went and found the mechanic, who had adjusted my car, who then told him that a rear adjuster on my car was seized and that he had said, to the guy on reception, the day before, that it was seized and that he shouldn't charge me for the rear adjustment. This would've been minutes maybe seconds before he DID charge me for front and rear adjustment and told me nothing about any issues at all, even when prompted for more detail.
I was then told they couldn't address the issue with the rear of my car "without heat," which they "didn't have". (An ex mechanic I know laughed at that). I was then offered a £18 partial refund for the rear adjustment, which didn't happen, but I was still charged for.
That partial refund was another palava that took nearly 2 weeks and went back to the wrong card.
I just hope there aren't many other people who think they are getting the service that they have paid for, when in fact they aren't, and will only know they haven't, when, and if, they personally check.
A waste of well over 2 hours and £70, only to be in the same place I started, which is needing my alignment sorting and needing to find a competent place to do it.
She went in and as well as the tyres, she asked if she could have someone take a very quick look at the negative battery terminal as it seemed loose. On return she was handed her key and was told that they knew she had hit the barrier and they had taken pictures to cover their backs. Being an honest person she was never going to claim any damage and if nothing else felt stupid it had happened.
ATS please treat all your customers with the same respect no matter their age or gender, as this was an ideal opportunity to make a new return customer and all you have managed to do is lose her custom and everyone she knows due to your actions. I don’t think you bothered looking at her battery terminal either. Great work ATS Fareham.
Couldn't say the same for the Portsmouth branch unfortunately🤷♂️.
