National Tyres and Autocare - a Halfords company

Excellent service and professional manner. Fitted my flat tyre in 10 minutes. Very polite :) the manager asked us how we were and offered us a hot drink while we waited. The garage building itself is falling down though. Please fix the building. The staff are great :)

Driving in Cheltenham last Saturday we had an emergency when a nail made a front tyre go completely flat and pretty unresponsive to the pump we carry. The first tyre shop we came to was National Tyres - and it's the last place I will return. It was 4pm and we were told they wouldn't do the tyre as another vehicle due in 15 minutes. The person there clearly was not bothered whether we got the tyre fixed or not - but he wasn't going to do it. I was astonished when I realised later this company are part of Halfords. The good news that day was that we stumbled on STS Tyres who were totally brilliant. If he was booked we would have waited but were just refused any service at National Tyres.

A mixed review here.

Bought tyres online via one of their websites for fitting on a Thursday evening. They were by far the cheapest supplier for the make and model of tyre I wanted (-25%!)

BUT

When I left the garage I thought the car was riding odd - very 'crashy' which I put down to the load rating on the new tyres as being higher than the old ones.

When I checked the pressures the fronts were at 33 & 34 PSI and the rears were at 37 & 41 PSI (the spec is 32 PSI all round). With the pressures corrected the ride became much better.

I have just come to wash the car (Sunday) and noticed that several of the plastic nut covers are also now missing (they were all there when I checked the pressures). Luckily I have a bag of spares as some were missing when I bought the car.

The nuts were also not torqued to spec when I checked them with some being barely more than finger tight and others having clearly been 'gunned up hard'.

Overall, I guess you get what you pay for, and being a garage mechanic myself I could sort out the lack of attention to detail, but if you don't have those capabilities I would go elsewhere.

Booked van in for 2 front tyres at 10.00, but was asked to come back at 11.00. Tyres fitted at 11.20 a.m. due to staff shortages. No parking spaces available....had to park on double yellow lines when dropping the van off.

I'm very happy with the service at "National Tyres". They were polite, efficient, professional and helpful from start to finish. I was given an appointment a few hours after my initial call to get a tyre with a puncture fixed and swapped with my spare. I didn't have to wait too long either. I would definitely recommend "National Tyres" and I will definitely be using them again..

Popped into the Cheltenham branch with a puncture. Friendly and efficient service, the manager had a look at my tyre and without further ado did a repair. I will be using this garage more often from now on. The manager is a credit to this garage.

They replaced 2 front tyres, however after driving on the motorway a couple days later wheels were not balanced.
I Had to take it back for rebalancing and was told both side were out. Mechanic fixed it but had to wait 2 hours.
Fine they fixed the problem but really shouldnt have happened in the first place.

Maybe they have a quality issue and worth going else where to avoid the hassle..? I would probably go somewhere else next time.

Just had my new tires fitted very happy with the work done would highly recommend
