Lovely for a walk round.
Make sure you note where you came in

A lovely hill fort near Andover. Although the inside of the ring is private land, you can still walk on the wooded old earthworks around it.

(Small) hill fort without the hill! Public footpath around top of inner rampart, accessible from north and south. Walk through woodland - beech, ash, sycamore, birch - centre of fort is cleared private land. I approached from the south, where it's a short walk from the road, (parking in layby for two cars, just to the west of Upper Clatford; footpath is signed but not immediately obvious if you are driving). I understand that the northern access is a footpath from Andover.

Nothing of real interest that stands out, but nice enough to stroll around the perimeter

Here you're standing in the centre of that open-space in pure isolation and no sound coming from any direction, with a lone tree and the occasional sheep adding tiny drops to fill the empty void. Encircling you are hundreds of trees like closely-tied pillars from afar, and the thought of feeling trapped and the empty space getting larger the further out you venture. Listening to the sheep baaing makes you feel a sense of relief you're not alone, yet the thought of not being alone brings it back. Physically it looks normal, but how can you be sure if it is real? My mind can convey the space is large and empty, but it causes a claustrophobic sense of dread which you cannot escape from. Even if I start walking, would I be able to reach the end?

I've seen that tree before. Is my unconscious state trying to tell me something which I can't remember? Do I even want to remember?? Will this be my prison when my time comes?

This a more complex set of Iron age Hillforts. Access is on foot only. There is plenty of wildlife to see in the early mornings.
