First visit, amazed by the River Itchen, the power of the water gushing through. Still a traditional working mill and and still produces wholemeal flour.
Lots of interesting facts and family activities. The Benham's Bakehouse cafe is at the back of the millhouse selling the floured produce. Great gift shop too and friendly staff.

I don't think think the mill below is disabled access.

Overall it was brilliant.

An interesting place to visit & it’s free, although we did give a donation. I didn’t take photos in the Mill, but a few outside. You can buy their wholemeal flour & there is a nice little bookshop & a small Café with reasonable prices.

Its a small property but great to have a nosey around and workout how the mill works. If the sun is out there's a lovely garden to the rear surrounded by the river and mill race. Cafe is lovely as well.

What a gem! When we arrived we had a lovely introduction by the staff, who explained all that was on offer. The room guide was so knowledgeable and pointed out loads of bits we would have missed. We loved the video of the otters! The wheel itself was brilliant, so great you can get so close to it and properly see it all working. The cafe was great, rose and cardamon shortbread!!!! And the garden was such a haven of peace! A great stocked book shop as well with such a good variety of books.

Great little place to visit in Winchester. Mill wasn't in operation when we visited but the museum part is very interactive to illustrate how it does operate. Visiting the water wheel below the museum is superb. Staff were so friendly and informative, answering any questions we had. Cafe on site seemed very popular although we didn't try. Possibility of seeing otters too! Overall, would highly recommend.

Super detailed film including the restoration and history of the mill. You get a lovely view of the fast flowing Itchen on the approach past the bridge and from the garden at the back.

The café was good, too. Good toasties and friendly staff.

Little hidden gem in Winchester. We were lucky enough to visit when the waterwheel was being used to grind flour so we saw it in action and also being shut down for the day. Some good information boards around explaining everything.
Cafe on site (not sampled on this visit) along with a lovey little second hand bookshop

A little gem, this place! The working mill is fascinating and you can get right up close. It's also free! The information provided is in manageable "bites" which actually makes one read about the place (unlike some other places)...and the staff there were lovely. Do watch out for opening times. We arrived on a Monday in January and it was open, but only from 11am. Not sure about the other days. Definitely worth a visit though!
