This small manor, gate house and moat are located in a relatively remote, beautiful and peaceful valley bottom. It is well worth taking an hour to visit the house or even better taking the time to walk through the orchards, forest and farmland.
Each room is dedicated to a past occupant of the house, and are appropriately furnished.
All the rooms of the house are open but the stairs are quite steep and floor boards uneven. However there are adequate grab handles if needed.
The guides are friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
A lovely low key visit.

Lovely little farm house to walk around with different times lines in each room. Done the green walk around the woodland but it took us less then 2 hours. It is a lovely unique little place different to most national trust I have been too quite quirky. Will be visiting again.

What a hidden gem! If they'd advertised the boat and play areas on the website, If have visited sooner. We spent 5hrs there today and the kids had a blast! New favourite NT spot.

Fantastic day out for all the family. The kids and the wife enjoyed the fruit picking and I'm sure I will enjoy eating our apple crumbles 😂 Staff are Brill all around the site, but one in particular was really friendly (can't remember her name, but I know she's moving away in a few months time) She's a credit to the company tho! The house was great but the only downfall was the radiators in all the rooms looked really modern, as did the wifi router 👀😂🤣 Anyway, hope who ever reads this goes here and has a great day out.

Lovely place to visit if you like a walk. The property is wonderful to look around but don't expect a massive house with endless rooms, it's not. Take advantage of the grounds though.

This is a lovely place to visit, there is plenty of parking down a mile long driveway. The house is very interesting with good use made of local records, to tell the story. The book shop is small but well stocked, with toilet and baby change facilities nearby. The cafe sells all the normal stuff, with a small amount of seating inside. There is additional seating in the courtyard and in the old stables.

Spent a beautiful October day here. House was seasonally decorated for Halloween with lots of diversions for the kids. The highlight for us is always the walk up into the woodlands though. Wonderful autumn colours and the perfect place for forest bathing.

Really interesting to see Christmas through the ages - the staff did a wonderful job with that, and the real fire in the last room (the coziest by far!) was a really nice touch :) We'll look forward to coming back in a few years, when the newly restored orchards are a bit more established. Only drops a Google star because of the slightly disappointing cafe..
