Hands down one of the most beautiful and peaceful places I've ever been. The crumbling ruins are slowly being reclaimed by nature, and it makes for an incredible sight in the right light.

Lydiate Hall was built by the Irelands from Garston and the oldest remains date from the early 1500s. It is now protected as a Grade II listed building. There isn't a huge amount to see but the remains include a 19th Century Bay Window, 19th Century Improvement & Extensions, a Well and a Stone Culvert. Another place worth looking at, if you are in the area. Spring is a nice time to visit, when the bulbs are in flower in what was the Gardens and Woodland.

A ruin surrounded by trees, really not that interesting however the surrounding countryside is flat and very attractive. The scotch Piper pub is just a few yards down the road and the Leeds Liverpool canal and Pennine way are easy to get to.
