Absolutely fantastic experience, had a lovely time with my family, really enjoyed the 2 hour horse drawn boat trip, had 45 min trip there, 30 min break to get off and see horseshoe falls, more like a river than a waterfall, enjoyed walking across the chain bridge, had a coffee in the hotel at the stop and a photo with Dakota the horse.
Then a 45 min return and a really enjoyable lunch at the tea rooms . Only thing was it rained most of the time and it was cold .
Would definitely return when back this way.

Fabulous experience. Did the 45min trip, amazing scenery, very relaxing, an excellent way to see the canal. We got to meet the lovely horse, Dakota, afterwards who is the most chilled out horse I've ever seen! Brilliant staff too. Looking forward to doing the 2hour trip soon.

What a relaxing way to spend a couple of hours. Horses are lovely and barges and station are well maintained. Staff really friendly. Tea room offers good range of breakfast and lunch options. Recommend a visit👍

Visited on a Saturday in June 2022, below are my impressions (I also have a YouTube video about the experience on my channel "Adventures & Experiences" - video title: "An Unexpected Sight: A Horse-Powered Boat?"):

- we arrived at the boat centre 30 minutes prior to our trip departure, and we admired the beautiful horse Dakota whilst she was eating. We watched one of the 30-minute boat tours departing and seeing the horse pulling the boat so effortlessly was beautiful.
The horses are very well looked-after, they have good shelter and they are well-fed. The staff take care of them gently and they are very caring.

- the boat tour experience was fantastic, once we departed it took 45 minutes to arrive at the Chain Bridge hotel. The ride was smooth and quiet, all we could hear was the wind rustling in the trees, the clippity-clappity of the horse, the voices of passengers or people walking past. It was so relaxing, and the views were majestic. The weather changed throughout these 45 mins and it was beautiful to see.

- we had a 30-minute break to grab a coffee from the hotel, to take pictures at the Chain Bridge, and it was a 5-minute walk to Horseshoe Falls, where most of the passengers spent time having a picnic, in such a beautiful environment.

- the trip back was very pleasant and we actually engaged in conversations with other tourists, it was great!

- once we arrived back at the boat centre, we spoke to one of the staff members (Shane), who was so friendly and you could tell he really loves his job, and looking after the horses and the customers.

- the price is very reasonable for the whole experience, we paid £14 per person for a 2-hour trip, and it was so worth it!

I highly recommend this to anyone wishing to try a new experience, and to enjoy the beauty of Llangollen whilst having an exciting day out!

Thank you to all the staff at the Horse Drawn Boat Centre and to Shane!

Superb family experience. Pip, Cadan and Dakota looked after us handsomely. Very friendly and nice to see their clear fondness of Dakota. Highly recommended.

We loved the experience of being pulled by a horse along the canal. We chose the hour and a half trip, wasn't disappointed. Only downfall is parking as none on site, but was still worth it as we got too take in the sites of the beautiful town it's located in ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍

Was lovely trip. However the rope snapped so ended stranded for 10 minutes whilst they brought a rope back.
Definitely value for money though

Quiet canal boat ride. No commentary. On a feeder canal no amazing views. Just a nice horse-drawn canal ride. Great ice cream at the connected tea room, too.
