Northampton is not an obvious tourism spot - hence the rather small tourist info office.

Sited in the old Sessions House, the building is remarkable.

The people manning the office are always helpful.

The tourist information centre is situated in the 17th century Sessions House, next door to County Hall in George Row, which used to be the site of the law courts until about 20 years ago. The staff working here are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

Northamptonshire is a wonderful county to explore whether by car, bus or walking, but the county is let down by the road surfaces which are in a very poor condition, sometimes taking up to 4 months, sometimes never to fill deep and wide potholes after they have been reported numerous times through the online Street Doctor roads repair service.

Tourist that travel through Northamptonshire need to take extra precaution when driving or walking on the roads and bus users also need to be to be extra careful as street lights have been turned off to save electricity at most bus stops and rural roads.

I've uploaded some photos of the old Sessions House and some other interesting buildings in Northampton.

Hopeless as always, My partner has just come from there after trying to find information regarding cycle routes in Salcey forest, only to be told on the desk that they hadn't ever heard of Salcey Forest. A repeat of my experience from some years ago when trying to find the dates for Sywell air show only to be told that they'd never heard of Sywell.

Rather disappointing visit. They didn't have any off the shelf leaflets about Bletchley park which is the national centre for computing and just a few miles away. I think it was over the county line.....

However the lady kindly found something on line and printed it out for us. Thank you!
